Rear Main Seal leak

Having a clutch/flywheel replaced on my turbo. He noticed the RMS was leaking...

Is there anything else I should be checking/replacing while the transmissions out, I didn't realize the turbo had an issue with the RMS leaking. Luckily the local dealer has the seal in stock.

I don't see this as a Porsche Turbo issue. This happens to cars of all kinds... On the N/A 996 cars this was a sign of other issues, but not Turbos.

Well that sucks. At least the tranny was already out! Don't think it is a chronic problem for the turbo, but can happen with any car.

Be sure to at least check the slave/accumulator for leaks - much easier to replace while tranny is out.

I'm replacing the slave and accumulator at the same time. Started leaking the same week the clutch started slipping. Starting to think I should've done the GT2 conversion, but I feel like this setup lasted 10 years, so i'll take my chances and save some money.

On Non turbos its common,,different motor,,,not Turbos..
I had a 1999 C-2 and a 2003 C-2 in which both needed it and alot of my PCA members with them and Boxters needed it.
I have 42,000 miles on my Turbo and I dont know of any in my circle with Turbos with that issue> Which is Great..

the RMS is not unheard of on mezger engines, but pretty rare. OTOH, it affected about 5% of the NA 996/986 which works out to around 7800 cars! It still existed to some extent with the NA 997. I think the DFI engine finally cured it.

There have been enough that there's an upgraded version. That says something.
