Aftermarket Exhaust overhaul

If some of you are like me, you thought there was no help for that discolored muffler.

I thought most of the discoloration was due to heat and couldn't be buffed out.

During an oil change, I figured the mufflers are easy to remove, so why not give it a try.

A little bit of polishing made a huge difference. I used a small buffing wheel and some aluminum polish. It took a while, but was worth it.

Of course the left side is before and the right side is after.

Later, Steve

The inside of the tail pipes are not polished. I always wipe them out with WD40 when I clean the car.

Later, Steve

The funny thing is the thread is about the mufflers and the tips are getting all the attention.

I usually read a thread until it first goes OT. That is generally when the thread has run it's course.

How long do you think it will last? Will it go back to the heated look or has the metal adjusted, etc? Just curious if the metal will stay polished looking or is it surface oxidation from the heat?

I have found that flat top range cleaner works well on the tips! Yeah, had to make a tip comment! :-)

I have completed both mufflers. I will let everyone know how long it lasts.

Later, Steve

BTW the tips get dirty again in less than a week.
