My stock wastegate hose is too short for my new turbos. Can I just use fuel hose and some clamps to replace it? Is there a special material I should be using? Thanks.

 

my ams wastegates came with some thinwall tubing and a plastic splice so i dont see why you couldnt

 

Speaking of waste gate hoses, how the heck do you get the stock hose over that nipple?

 

As long as they don't touch anything hot, as to melt. you should be fine with any decent rubber tubing...

 

DOnt even try.. it will break the OEM hose and eventually leak/ pop off.. and when that happens- KAboom... car goes into overboost...

you need a silicone 2" hose 3/16" and a brasss barb fitting /adaptor as well as good zip ties....

I would opt for the Tongue and groove style option.

Agree on plastic connector, over time it will heat cycle and get very brittle.

 

I used brass as well. Just go to NAPA and get the brass fittings and make a 1/8 to 3/16 adapter. your stock hose will not fit over the upgraded WG

What kind of hose is that small extension and how is it holding up? I don't want to be the dumb !#%* who blew it by using bad hose! I picked up some fuel line so I think it should work.

 

Standard fuel line will work fine as it is rated for pressure as opposed to vacuum line.

 

Went to Napa to get the fittings. They had to search but found what I need so I'll be able to do it this weekend. Thanks for sparing me the futile work of trying to fit the original hoses.

OK I wound up using 1/4 fuel line with small hose clamps and heat shielding near the Turbo. I will pressure test everything before I put the motor back in the car.
