EBC question!

Hi all!
I ordered an Alpha kit from Protomotive and I need the 996TT's owners advice, because you are more used to work with those kind of parts than the 997 guys I believe...
(I run a 997.1TT MT)

Todd is currently using Greddy Profec, but I would prefer the ability to fully map the boost curve, as offered by HKS EVC6 and APEXI AVCR.
Do some of you use one of these EBCs?
Please share your experience.

Thxs,

P.

I use HKS EVC6 and it's a very nice unit. If you Want full control including boost by gear you should look into AMS-1000. It gets pricey...

The HKS has been proven and should be user friendly. Or you can just bypass that and go through an EMS

I know the answers for other car I have used EBC on, but would like to hear the benifits/downfalls of using a EBC over the stock N75/stock ECU.

Thanks

Bobby Ali

ugh the greddy blows i am going to switch to the HKS also ..

bobby benfits are if you use race gas you can just tun the boost up.. and make alot more power...

now the not so good , is that if you are not careful you can blow your engine... get boost happy... get real crappy race gas ... forget to turn it down when now you have pump fuel in the tank ..

the n75 will control your boost and if it feels somthing off it will check the boost down to save your motor...

I have been using one for several years, you have 3 settings; off, lo & hi, mine are set where off runs @ 1. bar, lo is 1.2 bar & hi is 1.4 bar. Works really great, hi setting would be used drag or 60-120 pulls, lo I use for certain faster tracks like Sebring & Daytona, off for shorter tracks where to much boost can get you in trouble and when friend wants to drive your car - very seldom. I am running Alpha's 3071's with water/meth, turbo inlet tubes (STRONGLY RECOMMEND) 72lb inject, 5 bar, EPL tune -

I use a greddy and it is nice.... and simple. Hi low & off. I use the hi for the street @1.25 bar, low for the track @1.1 and off just rides my gate @.9 for cold and when my wife is in the car. Not so different then a Manuel, but you can change it from within the car.

Thxs for input guys,

As the most of you I will set low my WG, and map 2 preset curves according to the gas and use.
But my question isn't about the need or use of an EBC, but particularly the ability to fully map the boost curve: creating an overboost at midrange, a little climb at top and adjusting it according to what the engine can "take" along the rev band; and only the Apexi AVCR and HKS EVC6 permit it as far as I know.
That's why Greddy does not interest me.

So, nobody had compared the both?
I heard HKs is mapable every 1000rpm while Apexi every 500rpm for example...

Any idea if the HKS has a boost cut setting?
Thanks

Ive been using greddys on P cars for 8 years... no problems.. work well...
getting fancy with EBCs will only get you in trouble... unless your trying to break some records I suggest you hope that the kit will be put on correctly without any issues and boost leaks- thats your major issue.. not a greddy... I have a greddy in our 997.1 with alphas and it ran 10.5 sec at the 1/4 at 1 bar this weekend... NO special needs stuff just a simple greddy... and you can do that with a manual one too..
