Bov
My understanding (which could be wrong, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong) is that your car has 2 diverter valves (BOVs). A diverter valve can either vent to atmosphere or recirculate back into your intake; the 2 DVs in 996 turbos both recirculate.
From what I've read on here, you can run 1 that vents to atmosphere without getting CEL codes, but not both. Do a search for diverter valves on here to find more.
Also...wouldn't you rather save your money for a better mod? Save up for a tune (and shortly after, a new clutch) rather than the DVs imho...

Yeah, I would forget about the sound that lets people hear the car is turbo, get a tune which lets them KNOW its a turbo.
If you're looking for more "turbo" sounds, an exhaust will give you what you're looking for. You can hear the "whrrr" of the turbos exhaust will give this to you.
