996TT or 997.1 C4S
for me? it would come down to what i use the car for in terms of its intrinsic duality. the sport vs luxury debate again.
the car i have, is as fast as any 997tt ( well ya know lol ) and i bash it thru rock strewn canyons daily with impunity and i don't sweat the small s*it, chips, and pebbles unless its windshield contact
and i drive into town or on a long fwy blast just to let 'er breathe..my point is, and something to consider depending upon the primary uses of the car: who among us ( admit it ) wouldn't freak if/when we hear the often unavoidable chips/clunks and dings that result from proper operation
of the car! on the 997 it would matter. to me in my old battle proven 996t? fk it, it's all in a day's drive.but if those conditions reversed? and let's say i was hunting for new gf and hung out at coffee bean w/ my aviators after tooling around at 25mph in la traffic lol. ( in btw blasting it around of course
)..i'd have to have the 97t.

I hear ya. I could give a crap about having a garage queen, or the newest car I can get. I'm all about the most HP I can get for my budget. Unfortunately for me, the price of entry to the 997tt world precludes me from having any kind of power with it...
having bought stock and modded before. i would look for the well modded and well looked after example. even if a 997. but power levels are so close! how about a 997t with just tune/exhaust? perhaps some suspension upgrades.
but if i did bite the bullet for the $ 997, i'd at least pay the premium for the cpo. i prefer to get the bugs out on someone elses dime, if possible. but then a modded 997t can't be certified! another point is 997t's can be found "like new".. not many 996's in that category. again, aesthetics. but.. ya know.

a. start emotionally disconnecting yourself from your car
b. start thinking about where you go from here...
but then, who in their right mind would buy someone elses 1000hp twin turbo. some modded cars are like nightmare on elm street or steven kings christine, and i bet they are the one's 600hp and above lol
That why you pay attention and buy a known, proven car. If you are willing to buy and own a 1000hp car, you are well aware of the risks and issues ahead for you. The second you start modding a car, all bets are off, from 500whp to 1000+...
^ absolutely. only reason i felt ok buying the one i've got is i bought it from a reputable tuner, knew the mods ( few, though they were ) were all *matched* to the car, and time tested and proven to all work well together. then, of course. a provenance on a car with that much aftermarket work done is critical i would think.
32crazys current misfire thread is a cautionary tale. i'm betting that's not his lack of skill at wrenching, as much as it he's got a frankenturbo. case in point.
