Aftermarket TPMS for track use
Aftermarket TPMS for track use
Given that I have my PSM off and and have corded at least one tire now, I am thinking that it might be nice to have tire pressure monitors on my hollow twists in case one cords or loses air some other way while on the track. This way I would get a warning before actually feeling the loss of grip. It might also be nice for taking hot tire pressures.
Are there any downsides to this approach? Anyone else using TPMS for track applications?

Hrmm, interesting.
I've always used the basic approach, which i'm sure you have as well:
-Set baseline tire pressure on cool tires.
-Run a few hot laps, get tires to temp
-Pit and check tire temperature with pyrometer and check tire pressure
-Adjust pressure as desired while hot
After the first set, I re-check tire pressure after each session. With this method, I haven't had any problems.
TPMS is not going to tell me how low pressure is, just that it's low(er) somewhere.
Usually the car/tires will tell me long before it's too late.... just be sure to listen to it. If in doubt, check it out!
Edit: I am assuming you're looking for a system that may have a separate display that can provide real-time or close to real-time tire pressures? Such as this:

Amazon.com: Rupse Universal Real-Time Tire Pressure Monitor System TPMS For All Cars: Camera & Photo
I think this would be pretty sweet, myself! Saves some of that manual work

Orange TPMS is what I have and it is perfect with adjustable alarm for high and low pressure.

Orange TMPS
That's funny, and a bit embarassing, that I asked the same question three years ago.
Anyway, I read all of the stuff about the Oranges on Hollow Turbo Twists and have a call into Orange to see if they still have the alternate stems to make them work.
If they do, I am going to buy a set and will report back.
Thanks
