Turbo Suspension question

I have a question about doing the suspension on my Turbo. As of now, I have done the SSK, 19" Champion RG5 with 235/315 PS2's, V-flow, and GIAC courtesy of Tischer and EVO. Now I want to drop her a little. Also as of now, I have not done any tracking of the car. My questions are:

1. I know coilovers are the best option, but since they are adjustable, are they height and stiffness adjustable? I assume they play hand in hand, but can I lower the car, and maintain a somewhat softer and more compliant ride? Or when it is lower, it is just gets stiffer and stiffer the lower you go, and vise versa.

2. Just do ROW suspension. I know the ROW is different than mine right now, but is it that much better, and will I feel that much of a difference in the handling dept, and ride height.

3. What is the difference between ROW and X73, or are they the same. I have seen the X73 sold with stiffer engine mounts also.

The owner of the dealership I work at has a friend that had an 01 Turbo with only Champion springs and stock struts, and that car was lowered to probably the height I am looking for. I know it is not recommended to just do springs, so I would prefer to do the suspension correctly, and of course only pay for labor once.

If anyone is selling their suspension, let me know. Thanks everyone for your reply.

jayster is infamous around these parts
I reccomend PSS9's for a dual duty or street car, there are two versions that Im aware of, FVD's and those distributed by Bilstein U.S.
For a track car I reccomend Moton's, KW's or Bilstein's race coilovers. There are also other options that are just as good Im sure, but I am unaware of them at this point. Lex Carson is also a good resource at Moton, if you need setup advice.

I second Jaysters recommendation. I have the FVD PSS9s. The stiffness is adjustable, not the height. I found that even though I am running at 4/4 settings the ride is still better than stock (stiffer, better handling, but smoother). The better suspension handles the rough roads better. Also got a great deal from FVD. Also recommend professional installation and alignment!

Thanks for the comments! I have been running the FVD PSS9's since before I worked for the company and now 25,000 miles later I still love them (even with them set at 1 and 2 the ride is good). What do you mean when you say "not the height"?? The hight is for sure adjustable...
Regards,
Evan
PS- As mentioned, pro install, alignment, and corner balance is key!

Now I have another question. I have a pro-installer, can get the car aligned at my dealer, but what exactly is corner balancing? I have heard this term many times, but I new to the world of modding anything in the suspension dept. Thanks.

The car is put on scales (1 under each wheel) and the suspension is adjusted untill each wheel (corner) is at the same weight.
Here is a cab we corner balanced a few months ago..

Help me out here... I know I can adjust the settings from 1-9. And I know that during installation it can be set at different heights, but can you actually adjust the height once it is set? Like the adjustment ****? Explain please?

So, if the car is corner balanced, does the car handle that much more different? I assume, it is a more neutral feeling...remember, I am new to this. Also, since the engine is in the rear, I thought the weight ratio from front to back was something like 40/60 (not sure, but remember reading up on that). I am trying to learn everything I can about my Turbo. Once again thanks for the info.

I am using JRZ RS coilovers with fully adjustable height, rebound and compression. At their stiffest setting, the car rides like a race car. At their softest setting, the car rides like stock (perhaps even softer). JRZs are top quality shocks, made in Denmark. Call Tom at TPC if you want more info: (410) 799-7223.

No no, we are on the same page, it can only be done using the tools during install (or after, but must be realigned and corner balanced). I wanted to make sure you knew it wasn't just a fixed suspension tho .

If you dont need an adjustable setup, go with the X73 its an excellent setup and you will be happy with the look, handling, and ride.
