New 996TT owner
Hey, saw a thread or two like this and didn't see a "new member intro" sticky so here it goes.
I just picked up a 2003 911 Turbo last week on Tuesday..so a week ago technically since it's 2:24am here. I'm in Monterey, CA going to the Naval Post Graduate School to get a masters in National Security Affairs specializing in the Middle East.
Having said that, I'm a Navy Officer and have been in for 5 years this August.
This is my first serious performance car that I've owned. Prior to this, I had a couple sub-sub-par automatic cars. The first car worth mention that I bought (maybe not worth mentioning here) was a 2007 Civic SI. It was before I was hell bent on cars but into cars. I modified the hell out of it and it has outdone a new Camaro SS off the line and from a roll on multiple occasions. I'm selling that car without hesitation now that I picked up the 966TT. I can go more into detail about the other car but I doubt anyone cares. haha FWD has its limitations but I mitigated them as much as I could.
Between those two cars, I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan and left the car and bike (don't think I mentioned it, but I also have a 2009 Yamaha F6) in the states. While living over there I bought a 1992 Skyline GT-R (R32). It was lightly modified with bolt-ons and some other goodies. It was pretty damn fast, and I wish I didn't have to sell it. US law dictates that a car has to be 25 years old to be EPA and DOT exempt for import. Then you can register it as a classic car and not worry about any type of conversion bs.
Anyway, the 966TT is bone stock. Bought it one week ago, technically, with 26,855 miles on it.
I'm enjoying the car a lot! Reading these build threads is getting my blood going through, so I'm not sure how long it will stay completely stock.
I'm still shooting to keep it as a DD. Since I live in CA for the next year and a half, I'm also looking to keep it smog legal. As soon as I'm out of here, I plan on never moving back if I can help it. Will be registering the car in FL though, as soon as all the paperwork goes through.
Last but not least, here are some pics of the car.

Thank you for your service.
Welcome and congratulations on the purchase!! It looks like you found a clean and low mileage example. Now let the modifications begin
I would consider a Non-Smokers Shelf Kit and a Interior LED Kit. For more information Click Here. Enjoy, and keep us posted with future modifications.

Thanks everyone, I am really enjoying it so far. It's like when I bought my first motorcycle; sometimes I go for a drive for whatever excuse I can think up and other times I just go for a drive.
King James - I'll keep that in mind. Is there specific software that is popular or do you mean find a shop that does tuning and just have them make their own adjustments? Yea, we get around. I'll be here for about 1.5 years then off to RI for 6 months, then probably VA for about 6 weeks and then back to a ship somewhere. Hopefully I can get orders down in FL. Kinda hard to pull that off since people get stationed down there and then stay, so not a lot of billets are available.
996tt550hp - Hah yea, I haven't really been hit with that yet but I guess I'm coming up on the 30k maintenance.
ECS - No problem! Thanks for the link, I'll poke around in there and see what's available.
bl1ng - Yea, definitely wanted to find something with under 30k on it. I think I managed to look at every 996TT on sale in CA as long as it didn't have automatic or cabriolet in the title of the ad. There was one on sale in FL that was either '02 or '03 and it only had 9,xxx miles on it! I called them as soon as I saw it listed since I'm heading out to FL this coming weekend but it was already sold.

SamboTT - I got your message. Thanks. I tried to message you back but not quite at 15 posts yet.
Well the Tail of the Dragon isn't too far from where I'd be in FL at least.
