Turbo leaking oil into intercooler/boost tract.

I seem to have an internal leak on one of my 18g billets. The turbos seem to have the same amount of play in them, but only one is leaking. It leaves a puddle of oil when I pull off the turbo outlet hose. Could I have a bad check valve or a leak somewhere? Any ideas? Thanks.

If the turbos are fairly new - was the check valve replaced as well when turbos put on?

If not, that's probably it.

I asked Sean at the shop and no it is not normal to have oil in any pipes or puddles. My pipes are dry.

Since I track my car my tech told me to always keep the oil a couple of marks below full because as the oil heats up it expands and will overflow into the system. Anyone else hear this?

Ill swap one of the check valves from one of the old turbos. I take it that they are the fitting that the oil line screws into before the turbine shaft right?

I always heard to use new check valves when swapping turbos. Not sure why exactly, but I think they are pretty cheap from Porsche or Indy .

The thermal expansion coefficient for Mobil 1 is approximately 0.0005 vol unit/F. Thus, for a 50 degree increase in temp, 9 quarts of oil would expand less than 3%. So I don't think it would make a whole lot of difference unless it was overfilled to begin with.

My car only lets me check the oil when it is up to temp. So doubt it will expand much more than the threshold my gauges will light up...
