Question 996 TT CAB Production #

I know its hard to say with Porsche but has anyone heard if the 996 Turbo Cab will only be produced for 2004 and how many planned on being built?

I think right now it is really unclear what Porsch is doing for 05 other than the 2nd year of CGTs...Some say a facelifted 996 aka 997 is due to be replaced shortly thereafter by a new design aka 998 (i see this as stupid and pointless...screw facelifting and just give us an all new platform!!)

msindi, Porsche is going to make the CGT for a 3 year run of 500 a year, 1250 orders are filled and into Porsche, the 997 from what I understand as well is a facelifted and slightly more powerful 996, the 998 is going to be a whole new animal so we hear, only time will tell.

Joe , Thats typical Porsche these days, curious if it will only be produced for 04 more than anything, only Porsche has the answer I guess.

Here's my dumb-*** prediction based on not a shred of any information.

The 996 "shape" will be gone in all forms

The 997 series will be all widebodies (a la 98 993s), but they will include:
911S Coupe & Cab
911C4S Coupe & Cab
911 Targa (gone)
911 Turbo Coupe & Cab

If all they are doing is a bit of fender sheetmetal and bumping up the NA and Turbo motors it would seem likely that they could produce all of the above. This will go on for 2 model years and the 998 will appear in the fall of 06 for MY 07

How's that for a dumb-*** prediction!

Don, The 997 pics I have seen look like mostly a 996 with some 993 flavor as in the fenders look more flared like the 993, and some pics look like the headlights as well.

That's exactly why I think there won't be any 996s next year..

That is plain stupid...going back in time to 993 headlights - the latest 996 headlight is 10 times better and more practical for reapirs etc....
