Bosch MAF packaging?

Would someone out there please confirm if Bosch wraps their MAFs in a light brown waxy paper? I ordered a new one and it arrived with the paper box (paper security seal was broken) and it was wrapped in a waxy brown paper that had some tears in it. Seemed awfully strange for such an expensive, delicate part. Does this sound normal? Thanks in advance for your comments.

The maf should have Bosch embossed on it with part number , if that's all correct I would install it and take the chance. If you have doubts send it back before installing.

Why are people still screwing around with MAFs? Tune it out already... the cars run much better.

its weird that some have problems with MAFs and others don't.
There doesn't seem to be any consistency to it.

With the upgrades that I have, one would think that I would have MAF problems. I have zero. No lights no blown MAF nothing. Car runs perfect.

I think the MAF issues are directly related and proportionate to the type of air filter you use.

You could be right. I had problems with a slight hesitation when blipping the throttle until I went back to a stock air box, after using two other types of after market units.

Yep...if you have a stock airbox and a stock paper air filter, you will likely never encounter MAF issues. I made 600whp with all stock intake parts...

Hello KC Michael
I dunno about the seal but mine came exactly like yours. Wrapped in brown waxy paper and I ordered mine locally from the other side of the pond. I also did not use the internet to buy it.

I'm on my 4th and have a stock air box and oem paper filter. Only one was bad enough to give me the PSM/ABS light but the others did give me driveability issues. They tested out of range using the factory test instructions. Each seemed to be good for a couple cleanings then after that the cleaning didn't do much for it.
