Any new tire suggestions for my 2001 996 TT?

The tread life on the tires of my 2001 996 TT is coming to an end and I would like to replace them. I don’t plan to track the car so I’m looking to buy some fantastic every day performance tires. Any suggestions?

Also, any recommended places to get them?

Thanks!

Michelin PS2's from Tirerack.

Treadlife hasn't been great for me, but I tracked them pretty soon after I got them, and they got a lot of wear over the weekend.

They stick well, do great in the wet, have very progressive breakaway characteristics, and provide good feedback.

Also, they are among the more quiet tires. Road noise has never been a problem.

I have had great luck with PS2s also. They handle well but also seem to last much longer than my P-zeros did.

I'm debating between PS2 and the Yokahama Advan Neova. Similar pricing and performance. So far the Neova seems to be the better performing tire.

Why not get new rims and tires? I'm sure you might be able to pick up some stuff slightly used if $ is an issue. Either way, Damon at Tire Rack who posts here is helpful.

Aren't the PS2's heavy? Also aren't they directional?

The new Yoks seem like they are an excellent choice. If they are anything like the AVS they would be an excellent choice. You can actually double the lifespan by being able to flip the insides out as the inner treads take up majority of the wear.

I have nothing but good things to say about the PS2. Balance up nice and wear and perform superbly. I'm running 235/40/18 fr and 315/30/18 r. Had several DE's on a set and 5,000 miles with over 1/2 tread left. Can't go wrong.
