Fuel Additive / Cleaner?

Fuel Additive / Cleaner?
Seeing as how these cars are starting to get up there being 10+ years old and higher mileage are there any issues with running a bottle of fuel system cleaner through a tank of gas? Thought it might free up a few lost hp and do some good.
Anyone have any experience with this? A search didn't yield any relevant results.

The shop that does my MB work and also is Porsche certified recommends Techron, but BG 44k is a winner, too. [also recommends not more than two full size (20gal treatment) bottles between oil changes]

The British "5th Gear" show (I think on Velocity channel) had a feature where they dyno'd a car then ran a fuel additive (Redex). After running through a treated tank HP was up a few BHP. Plugs and air filter also added a few.

I bought a 4 pack of techron at Sam's club a few weeks back, have been going back and forth about using it. Will probably try it out on our mercedes first just in case it causes any hesitation etc.
I've read that you should change the oil after you use this, not sure if it's due to the ingredients within the injector cleaners or from whatever they end up cleaning off. If memory serves me right, chevron recommended no more than 2 applications per oil change should be done.
