996TT Convertible Top Button on Hardto Car?
SubscribeGuys, I just bought my first Porsche, a 2003 996TT 6-speed hardtop. I've gone through my Owner's Manual, but cannot find why my car has this convertible top button (or so it seems). There is no Foot Well Lighting switch. Hopefully this isn't just a silly newbie question. Obviously, not causing any issue, just wondering why the car would have this switch.
Far right, top button:

Thanks in advance,
Jay

Does it do anything? My sense is that it was either a dummy button that was not functional, or the prior owner replaced it because it broke and used whatever he could get cheap. I have a TT cabriolet and that's definitely where my top button is.
Are you sure you didn't buy a convertible with the hardtop installed?

Ah, very clever. I'll look into it more this evening. Just thought it was strange to see it there. Any info on how to make this switch work as a garage door switch? Photos?Originally Posted by 32krazy!
pop the horseshoe off and look to see if he installed a garage door opener circut board and wired it to that button. i have a targa top shade button on my console for just that purpose
heres a quick link to how its done. there are other ways also. i did the console because its easy to reach and open up to swap batteries when needed

Just following up. The previous owner has this wired up to an iSimple iPod/iPhone interface. Kind of strange it's not just left always on with the radio, but at least I know what it does has nothing to do with the roof! Thanks guys.
