Airbag failure?

Anyone ever have an airbag failure? I just started getting a notification when I start up the car and hoped it was just some software glitch and wouldn't return the next time I started it. Unfortunately, I was wrong and it has been persistent.

I doubt it's a scheduled maintenance thing because I'm at 28k with the 30k scheduled maintenance right around the corner. I don't have any kind of diagnostic equipment, so I'm thinking that I'll just need to take it into a shop to get it checked out.
