Group drives in the southeast

We are looking to gather some other like minded ppl to meet up for weekend drives here in the southeast.

We are not looking break land speed records or bend any sheet metal. We love spirited driving but done very responsibly.

The leaves are turning and its still warm enough to drive with the top back and windows down.

So far the weekend drives being considered are these.

Blood Mountain HWY 129 in GA -drove 10/20 and it was alot of fun

Tail of the Dragon www.tailofthedragon.com HWY 129 in GA/NC/TN -10/20 great drive, lots of good people on the road and at the overlooks.

www.Moonshiner28.com GA/NC Hwy 28
www.devilstriangletn.com TN hwy 116
www.sixgap.com Figure 8 using Hwy 180,Hwy 69,Hwy 129,180,75 and 348
www.thediamondbacknc.com NC Hwy 226A and US221

Let me know if anyone would like to meet up for these any other drives.

Brooks

Any actual dates setup? I'm in Nashville, and there are a couple Nashville/Birmingham/Atlanta guys around, but tough to do just on a whim. Always good to get fellow car guys together though.

I would be open to setting the first Saturday of the month as a date to meet up for a drive. We can decide on the next months drive at that time. Sound good to anyone?

32Krazy! makes a good point. The triangle isnt for everyone and can be danergous. The road isnt consider as dangerous from a technical driving standpoint but from road condition with poor asphalt patching and large heaves in the road, gravel washouts into the road that can lead to FOD damage. Apparently the road condition is worse driving the Triangle clockwise. Logging trucks, Coal trucks, 4 wheelers and steep drop off without gaurdrails make it a road we would need to mind our speed. Thanks 32Krazy! for raising the flag.

i spend a good deal of time in the east tn woods. for the pcar guys that want spirited but decent driving i would suggest cherohala skyway, (watch the cops at the state line) hellbender from deals gap to fontatna lodge, the dragon if you want to get a sticker and say you did it but in reality you wont get more than 4 to 5 minutes of clean running before you find a slow bike or tourist. unless you run first thing in the am its always a crowded road.

moonshiner and diamondback are great roads. another thing to remmenber is in the early am this time of yr the roads are covered in wet slippery leaves falling from the trees. it can pop up every were and cause a nice ride to become very dangerous. be careful and have fun!!
for anyone in the nashville area on nov 2 this will be the last cars and coffee for the yr. come on up to cool springs in franklin tn and say hello!

Hey guys, I got notified by Thomapa about this -- I don't come on here all that often. Would love to join you but I'm out of town that weekend. But if you're collecting names for future notification I'm Matt Alley at Facebook. Johns Creek, GA (Alpharetta area.)

Of course, I never check Facebook either, but hopefully it sends an email when I get a message.

Have fun!
