Next Step up from K24/18g??
Main reason to doing just rods.......I guess the main reason I dont want to fully split and go further than rods obviously.
since your in l.i. talk to tim and let him do the work.
you have a couple of choices. intense research and pick the parts you want or let your wrench have full control.
these are all the things i had to consider in a simple 650 rwhp build.
honestly you have a fairly solid setup. why not enjoy the power you have ? its obviously more than you will ever need on the street and unless your a track rat 800 to 1000 rwhp is a major handful and imo a money pit with no end

if you are in there why not replace stock pump to GT3RS oil pump? why not freshen up the IMS bearings?

you can install pauter rods without splitting the cases. you can not install carillo rods withou splitting the cases because you have the clearance the oil pump. people that are less comfortable with working on these motors prefer to not split the cases.

i agree the only thing you are saving is a couple gaskets and orings, and a set of main bearings which are not expensive.
When its all said and done. I was looking to go up another 100-200whp with upgraded rods and rod bolts so in the back of my mind I had less worry inrelation to engine weak points. Thats about it. Keep the car for several years and if it becomes too much of a money pit then I sell it instead of investing 30k off the bat on a full engine build which isnt necessarily needed when the car isnt being tracked and or launched out of the hole. Its a weekend driver and do a full highway pulls here or there, case closed with 750-800whp.
I'm surprised people didn't realize you didn't have to split the case to do certain rods and I am sure Krazy isnt the only one hence why some people speculated ridiculously high pricing on rod install.

I've been through a few motors and yes you can get to te rods without splitting but tere are a few that are a real pain in the *** to get to. I'm sure getting proper torque on them during installation is equally difficult. Not to mention the pita of dropping the back half of a rod journal off into the case.
