Now... The Oil Level Sensor
Now... The Oil Level Sensor
So, I've had my 996TT for about two months but I've only managed to put a thousand miles on it due to a parade of minor issues. On the drive home, the alternator went, when I got it out of the shop it had idle issues and trouble holding boost.
Replaced the Secondary Air Pump to find out my diverter valves are likely pooched. While I was driving home the car decided to tell me my Oil Level Indicator sensor was not functioning. Fortunately the Oil Pressure Gauge is fine, but not being able to tell what level my oil is at will become a problem pretty quick.
Has anyone else had this? I'm thinking they might have bumped a wire off or something but I don't know much about the system.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. This whole pay to play is rapidly becoming pay to... pay. Sigh.

iirc there are many tales of the sender unit going bad for the pressure gauge..that's common. but i've never heard of the sensor on the oil level indicator. a very good question. as you say, hopefully just a connection. i could see how that would be a serious problem. yikes. but someone'll know. gl!
If they change the secondary air pump there is a chance that the plug that goes to the sending unit was disconnected. If you follow the fill tube to the oil tank the sender is right under it. The fill tube and sender share the same mounting bolt
So closing out all my old problems in case someone has the same later on.
When the shop installed a new secondary air pump unit they unplugged the sensor for the oil level sensor. If you look at the back right corner of the engine bay against the fire wall there is a female connect on a slight upward angle above when the secondary air unit gets installed. You can see it with a flash light.
At least it wasn't a hard fix, and it was free. This is a good one to check if you ever get the error.
