GT2 and X50: Same engine?

I was curious if the GT2 and X50 cars have identical engine parts with maybe slightly different tuning to make up for the 12 hp difference?

I believe the X50 cars were rated at 444 hp and the early GT2's made 456 hp. They have the same K24 turbos. Are the intercoolers and other engine parts identical as well?

What are the differences if any?

Thanks.

I'm not a GT2 expert but I thought GT2 is basically a RWD version of TT that is strip down in weight.

i thought GT2 had the GT1 crankcase? not sure if x50 includes this. if i'm not mistaken too, the GT2 is highly underrated from the factory powerwise, though that might be the same case as the x50 tt? the x50 is a fantastic car, but power similarities aside, i'm sure the gt2's power delivery is much more visceral

Visceral, not really.

Both have the GT1 case, both are probably underrated from the factory.

The GT2, X50, and turbo are all the same for the most part, engine-wise. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken.

The major difference:

x50/GT2 = k24 turbos + 10% larger intercoolers than the turbo
turbo = k16 turbos

GT2 = 1.0-1.1 bar?
x50 = 0.8-0.9 bar?
turbo = 0.7-0.8 bar

That explains the hp difference give or take.

My stock GT2 will pull 1.1 bar at will ... and, the GT2 can put it down unlike any stock TT or X50

Ciggy1,

Amen to what you have said

I drove a TT996 before driving my GT2 and there just wasnt any second thoughts, the sheer force the GT2 has when it accelarates is unbelievable, I know all you guys with the modded 700hp TT's are ferocious but who is to say that a 700HP GT2 is not faster.
OK getting of topic here sorry,

The only difference I know of in the engine dept. is that the GT2 has bigger intercoolers and turbos, along with reprogrammed ECM specs, (read chipping ala Porsche )

Those who think they may have a GT2 in their future, now is the time to buy, because one day, people will understand and appreciate how special the GT2 is. When this happens, I expect prices to strengthen if not appreciate. Maybe wishfull thinking, but eventually, there will only be so many available and hopefully, I'll still have mine.

The motors are exactly the same. I have had both apart to build. No difference.

The GT2 and the x50 have the same engine components. The standard turbo engine, however, is slightly different. In particular, the GT2 and x50 engines both use a GT3 oil pump . . . the standard turbo engine does not.

Thanks for the replies. I pretty much thought the engines, turbos and intercoolers were the same except for maybe slight tuning differences. In regards to the drivetrain differences, I am very well versed in that respect.

In regards to boost; I don't think I have seen more than 0.9 maybe even 0.8 BAR on my stock car.

What are you guys seeing on your stock cars?

Stephen,

I have never had a GT2 apart, however isn't the only internal motor differences between the turbo and the GT2 the oil pump?
