Nice video! The big intercooler was a blast from the past. I owned a 1989 ANDIAL
3.5 twin plug back in the day. It was THE fastest thing on the road in the early 90s.
I raced a fellow PCA member who had a real Ruf Yellowbird and I beat him by maybe
a car length. ( two 60-160 roll ons) He had the crazy Ruf gears and way more top end
but I got him down low! Beating a yellowbird was the ultimate bragging rights lol.

Brings back memories! Thanks

Thank you very much ! I actually just sold my 3.5 twin plug twin turbo slant nose a while ago myself ! Great cars and for sure were the fastest things on the road in the early 90's !

Slant nose? There's a fellow here in Birmingham that has an original DP
slant. What a classic!

WOW! Now I remember you saying something about your 930 ANDIAL
setup.

I had the whole shebang. 3.5 ltr, twin plug, K29 and B&B exhaust.
I pulled the a/c and stereo and had shaved carpet.

Drop some dry ice on that monster intercooler and the front wheels would
come off the ground lol.

Totally off topic...but has anyone ever loaded the intercooler inlets on each side of their 996T with chunks of dry ice to see how performance would be impacted? It seems like it would be harmless since the CO2 would be trapped in the IC venting and wouldn't degrade performance by getting sucked into engine intake. The stock vents are perfect to put a bunch of dry ice in since it will just rest on the ICs due to their horizontal orientation.
I never thought of doing this until you mentioned it LayinBack...cool idea. Get it...cool idea Sometimes my puns annoy even me.

lol

Some folks have used a c02 setup to spray the ic's. I think Todd (BHT) used
something similar.

It would be a tremendous shock to the drivetrain on high horsepower cars
like mine. It would probably be better on a 500-600 whp setup. Even then
I would make sure I had a really good clutch and an extra axle lol.

We didn't have motronic engine management on the 930s and we were operating off
of a type of mechanical fuel injection called K Jetronic. The engines were hardly being
maximized and there was a lot of room for something like dry ice. Remember, the 930s
were air cooled so the dry ice was like a 50-75 shot of nitrous!

My 2800 lb, 400 whp 930 was much harder to drive then my 1000 hp 996TT!

It's pretty amazing what can be wrung out of an engine thanks to modern engine management compared to just 15 - 20 years ago!
