Try KC guys. We are right in the middle, we have heartland park (where the national SCCA runoffs are) we have KCIR (drag) and we probably can contract with one of the many air force bases around here that are shut down to top speed. We have a 10K building and dyno so that covers all the bases. We are truly smack dab in the middle.

You guys need to understand if you want a NATIONAL MEET with guys from 6speed coming from all over the Country it MUST BE in a central location. You can have all the local CA and FL meets you want but you won't get all the Midwest and East Coast guys driving to California.
Here is Heartland Park website:

They are holding the 2006 SCCA runoffs there but how would we be able to get on the track when this is going on? Would we need to hold the event like the weekend before and people could stay for the runoffs if they wanted?

I would rather avoid that because all the CA guys will vote for CA and all the FL guys will vote for FL.

I will offer my $0.02 here, or maybe $1.50.....
I tried to put something like this together a year or more ago. It fell flat on its face due to peoples' unwillingness to drive to the event. If it is a national meet it absolutely MUST be in the center of the country. You have to be fair to all attendees. Of course we can all be selfish and choose our own home locations, but what is the point of that. The main point of the event, for me, Buddy (as far as I know), and our NJ/NY guys is to meet fellow 6speed family members from across the country and see and play with their hardware. The players can play at the track or the airport as appropriate and the rest can talk, meet, eat, drive and observe.
When I tried this endeavor, I found that Imagine Auto was the fairest location for all people from all areas of the country. Granted, it is not Las Vegas, but this is about meeting others, right?
From my persepective, after having organized the 6speed Tail of the Dragon meet of 2004, the best part, was the drive there (the caravan) and meeting everyone that we talk to daily on the forum. In the end, everyone went away with new acquaintances and friendships that have endured.
Of course there will be those that simply don't have the desire, time or $$ to attend. Some people look at the forum as a social outlet while others use it for technical info. Whatever the reason, people will have their own motivations to attend or not.
With all that said, I for one will not travel to California for a national meet. It is simply too far and too costly. Last time I tried this, we toyed with the idea of centering around the Open Road Racing event in Nevada and having the meet in Las Vegas, but that would also be unfair for east coasters. Only a small percentage of the demographic will participate in the race activity so that is hardly fair to the people that want to drive to meet, greet and eat.
I emphatically vote for Kansas City near Imagine Auto. I feel that will separate the true attendees from the talkers. If everyone has to travel a good, and approximately equal, distance, the choice to be committed will be more than a whim.

Ken that was perfectly said!!! Everyone has been saying there home town etc etc, You need to think of a place exactly in the middle allowing it to be the same distance from each person..
Guys
I think you are abit confused to what this is.
This isnt going to be just a get togther fluff session.
Cars will have to be seriously prepaired for this event it will be open to other makes .
I am currently talking to a few large corporate sponsors for an event like this.. I am also working on support from magzines.
I think Texas Motorspeedway would be the place to do it.
Cars could do there top speed runs there. And the Roval can be used for the road course sections.. Also keep in mind that Indy Car drivers were blacking out because of the G's at that track..
This will be a serious shootout..... So seriously consider if you are upto it.. We are lookinig at late next year before something of this magnitude could be pulled off..
This would be much more than just show up do some dyno pulls, a few hot laps and your done..
When I get back from Mosport ( after labor day ) I will post a proposed format for the event...
