Thanks goes out to Markski@911tuning

I traded my pristine 2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT with 49K mi for a 2001 996tt one month ago today. I have learned a lot about Porsche in a month...lol At the time I didn't know much about Porsche except it was a dream come true to own one. After the first day the gentleman texted me to warn me that if it sits in the garage for a week the tires would go flat due to the three piece wheels needing re-sealed. Turns out, two days was limit! I also knew that I wanted to replace the newly installed Falkens in the rear with the Pilots, I just didn't think it would need done immediately! Took her to tire store for re-balancing and leak check and found the drivers rear had a separation on the inside! Ordered 2 new Pilots. During the dis-mount the guy doing the tire changing got his feet soaked with fix-a-flat All 4 tires were LOADED with fix-a-flat! The sealant that seals the rims was completely deteriorated! So I found some Rugers for sale here on 6speed to run temporarily until I make a wheel choice and buy new ones...which starts off my next adventure...

I had been talking with Markski about his holiday special on new turbos and tune but after what I had been dealing with decided to hold off until I feel comfy with the motor. He was a very nice guy that took the time to explain the car to me and I assured him I would do business with him.

So I drove the car home from my shop, as I have a RV repair business, to put in garage until I get new rims. I decided to get on the interstate for the ONE EXIT TRIP just to feel the feeling I get when I drive her...lol This is when it turns south! I accelerate up around a car that is running 35mph at the end of the on ramp into traffic doing 70+..this is I-4 in Central Florida and people haul azz! When the boost came up I heard a pop around the 65mph mark, looked in rear view to see the smoke, steam and liquid shooting out the back end! It looked like James Bond making an escape! I tore it down Saturday morn to find the coolant fitting popped out under the plenum on passenger side. I spoke with Mark and he assured me and walked me through various steps. I dropped motor and disassembled the top of her Cleaned and sanded fitting and hole it went in and JB welded back in place. Came in Sunday morning and pinned ALL 8 fittings! Reassembled and ran into a few snags. There were vacuum leaks galore. Used Marks method and made a plug and pressure test fittings out of plumbing fittings and pressured her up! Found all and fixed all! Turns out there was a solenoid that wasnt plugged in for who knows how long. I then started throwing knock code from bank 2. Wound up being solenoid came unplugged. Must not have been seated properly because I didn't need to unplug it. The only other thing was a oil leak at filter base. I need to order a new gasket!

Got her all running Friday night and took her to get the new wheels installed that I purchased from a member here who said they were off his 2002 996tt. All went well til we went to bolt on the rears! The offset is wrong and they rub the rear caliper He swears they didn't spacers on his car! So I had no choice but to purchase standard 5mm spacers so I could get car out of tire shop and get home Now I have to order the right spacers! What does it hurt to run regular spacers? It is running smooth with no vibrations?

I have had a very interesting first Porsche experience to say the least! I still love her...lol The interior and exterior is an 8 out 10.

Mark texted me every night to see how I was coming and if I needed anything! All the while not asking for anything in return! This is exactly how I treat my customers and I respect and thank him for it! Sorry for such a long post but this is the short version!!

According to Car Fax she was purchased in Illinois and then went to Texas where it got most of it's 80k miles. I would sure like to talk to the previous owner to find out what exhaust it has and any other useful info.

Here she is before and after...

In case it could help anyone, here are pics of my crude pressure tester "kit". I used a 1 1/2 inch "vent check", used as a vacuum breaker under your sinks...lol, as the plug. I used a 1 1/2" pipe plug, drilled and tapped a 1/4mpt x 1/4 air brake line "press-loc" fitting. I used a pressure gauge with a tire valve stem and a pressure regulator. It can all be found at Home Depot. I also attached a pic of the rear rim while dis-mounting....

I will put this car back in "as good or better than new condition" even if it kills me!

What's the good bad and ugly about Fabspeed ? Should I be concerned? Would the car need reprogrammed after changing exhaust? Thanks for any input!
