Lets talk tuning options(not a tuner debate)

I'm looking for some input here. Im stock motor pt5558's , mafless all supporting mods, the important thing to note is stock motor. I currently have Meastro tuning suite running a decent base tune. If I still own the car say Oct '14 I'll build the motor and keep it forever, that said it's always for sale.

I did the entire build in the garage and that is mostly why i picked the maestro tuner, as I thought I'd have more tuner options and they advertise a bank of tunes available for each application(sidebar: nothing available for 996). No one I want to tune the car locally is interested in doing it so I've come to these options.

Option 1-
Maestro : (Initial cost $1400) closest tuner is USP, They want $2100 and a week or so with the car.
My thoughts: No doubt the would do an excellent job but that would make it a single tune for $3500, after building the motor I'd take it back and spend another $2100? I could use a remote (box type) tuner and be in the same spot for less.

Option 2-
ProEFI: $2800 to get it running and I could sell my EBC, zeitronix setup and maybe even maestro tuner and be out of pocket less then $2k. Then i could use the local tuner I wanted initially.
My thoughts: I'd spend much less on the tune, I'd be running a better system, I can build on it later but do i really want to go stand alone?

Option 3-
Box tune around $2k and be done until it's time to build the motor.

So what I want to know is, The people that have used either of these systems... Whats your opinion? ProEFI deliver great driveability?

If you purchase a custom tune from the correct tuner (not naming names as you stated you dont want this to be a tuner debate)
The price of the tune includes retunes. That way if you change set ups you dont have to pay for the re tune.

I am sorry to hear of your dismay. The Maestro should be prefect for your build. Are you sure your mods are fully supporting the flow your turbos are supplying? Their are other tuners that know the Maestro and can email you tunes that you upload through your tuning suite yourself.

Todd- Does the tuner you have in mind tune MAFless?
Tim- Pm'ed you.. I've got the supporting mods and it runs pretty well now I'd just like a "tuner" to clean it up

a retune is not free from most tuners, some will charge as much as 1000$ each time you change a larger variable.

check into it more in depth.

From my recent ProEfi purchase (not 996tt), that $2800 is just the start. There are plenty of additional sensors, harnesses, etc that need to be purchased which will quickly push the cost well north of $3,500 to $4,000. Just FYI.

Option 3 is a no brainer, especially if the car is always for sale...you'll change your mind a thousand times between now and then...
