996tt ABS PSM failure

OK guys I have the ABS PSM 4200 failure right front speed sensor. I done my research and have a bad wire inside the car or out side near the abs unit. The wires are blue/brown and white/brown.

I just need to know if anyone else had this problem and I need a wiring diagram.

thanks
Chris

I chased that for some time. It was a break in the harness but when fixed there was still the fault. The pwis said check ground. Never once said abs unit was bad. I remember sending out just the control box out to some place on line and they fix it. Never even took one brake line off the abs block.

I was just reading one of your old post... I jumped the speed sensor to abs block and abs psm light goes out. Where is the control box located. I ordered a new harness today.

I've read from before this can be caused by either sytem the ABS or the PSM? is this true and not even related to wiring?

the irony is that most abs/psm dash lights are not the abs/psm at all. it;s just the generic "something's up". the speed sensor related abs/psm warning is *usually* just a crimped wire. was for me.

I had this ABS/PSM light come on for random reasons. Turned out of the of the connectors on my ECM had worked loose. Re-soldered and have never had a problem since. APR in Opelika actually found the problem and did the work for me.

Sorry for jacking, but in had this same question, but mine only comes on when I have the car at wot for a extended period of time. Like a 4th, 5th, or 6th gear pull. That's the only time they are triggered....any thoughts?

I had my come on today. This was after the spoiler light was on for 30 mins as the passenger side piston stopped work. Maybe just due to the electric problem with the spoiler. Turned the engine off, and the ABS and PSM lights didn't comeback on.

An electrical problem cannot make one side work and the other not. If the spoiler is moving one side, your electrics are fine and you have a broken piece of plastic inside or a failed hydraulic ram.

Varied replies...I guess my question now is how do I exactly know where to start considering all various wiring fixes posted here and previously?

sometimes it's better to begin your own thread if your problem is only similar to the OP's eg you also have abs/psm cel's, given the causes for them are so numerous. the op's issue would *tend* to be with a crimped wire of the speed sensor rather than a genuine failure of any part. while your issue may have nothing at all to do with that. such is the uncertainty of internet chat board diagnoses. though these guys are right more than not in here.

start a new thread, list your dilemma, folks'll help, if they can i'm sure
