popping noise from rear under hard acceleration high boost
Lol you guys are funny stick to gtr stuff.. I know a buddy who had gotten your magical 16 billets back in the day that boasted magical numbers and let me tell you how sub par their numbers were compared to advertised..
BTW our 996tt with those billet K16's didn't break any records or do anything too crazy, so I'm not sure what's magical.

Figured it out
I have been systematically hunting for the cause of this noise for 4 years now.
I have driven the car very little. and driven "around" the noise with the throttle.
I tried. Replacing Fuel pump
Fuel pump electrical connector.
New fuel filter.
all new coils
all new plugs.
STILL making the noise under WOT 1.0+ boost.
I tried race gas
I tried new mixtures in the water injection.
I tried different nozzles and water injection settings.
I flow balanced the injectors
I replaced the fuel Pressure regulator.
I even removed the heads and had a complete valve job done with new guides. because the guides were warn out. and thought MAYBE this is a cause.
NOTHING has fixed this noise.
It's Detonation!
It's knock! From my timing being too advanced.
Now i get to pull the engine and replace the rod bearings. I did not throw a rod and likely did not bend one. There sure is a fair amount of silver in my oil though. I know I beat/wore the rod bearings down.
I will say this. When you guys try to do things yourself as i have, Take your time and select a performance shop that's responsive and helpful in solving problems. This could have been figured out much easier years ago if i had done that. I would have spent much less time and money. Now i have an engine with warn rod bearings.
I hate popcorn!
