Windows Tablet w/Durametric
I found an app called Raymondcc .NET Detector and ran it. It gives 2.0 sp2, 3.0 sp2, 3.5 sp1, 4.5 Client Profile, and 4.5 Full Package .NET framework versions installed. So I went to the control panel and turned off all the 4.5 services. Then I uninstalled Durametric 5 and reinstalled 6...and now it works. So then I turn all the 4.5 services back on and try again...and it still works fine now. So I can't say the 4.5 .NET was the issue but I don't know why it's working now. Did installing Durametric 5 somehow clean up or reconfigure something? This makes no sense to me after hours of fiddling with it, I'm glad it works but I would like to understand it so the underlying issue can be avoided.
But whatever, Durametric 6 works and I reconfirmed no issues connecting to the car through the micro USB adapter.

+1 - I saw an Acer with both 2.0 and 3.0 ports at Costco today for $400. Gonna look into it some more, but that's about the most i want to spend for basically an extra computer.
I've been using it with my Surface Pro without issue. BestBuy has a killer deal on the Surface Pro currently - $599.

Glad to hear it worked fine for you. I have not had any further problems over the last couple months. Now if Durametric would finally fix their 9X7 O2 sensor and fuel trim related actual values bug we might have a nice tool...
I will say that 8" landscape is awfully small and touch feedback if poor with big fingers. I found using purposed stylus was best navigating around the screen and something to be said that bigger might be better

Now if I can just virtual machine durametric then I can run it on my ipad
