yes, mount/balance are a daily thing thay any place can do. ordinarily it wouldn't be necessary to re-align, BUT since i assume you don't know when it was last done? i would do it. again, if your car is lowered? begin or simply go with x73/gt2 specs. they're in all alignment computers. if stock height? go with stock numbers to start.

tire man is adequate to the task, unless you're going with corner balancing etc etc. not needed at this stage imo. but maybe later if you get "serious" lol
When I bought the car in November of last year they put on PSS10's and lowered the car. Also, they corner balanced the car and aligned so I should be good with just mounting and balancing? My concern with these tire guys is making sure that they jack the car up in the right place and don't mess up my car....... becoming obsessed.... I love it!!

What is known is the fact that both the front and rear final ratios are 3.44. If you understand how the AWD system works, it will logically tell you that in order for the rear to transfer any torque to the front, the rear wheels must rotate slightly faster than the fronts. If the fronts rotate faster, they are actually providing driveline drag. The viscous coupler is primitive and relies only on the difference of input / output speeds.
The 3% figure is widely used across many diffferent AWD car manufacturers as a guideline to stay within, and is also used by the tire industry, and others. I've seen it quoted in official literature before but don't ask me to remember where or when Jon!

The actual figure from Porsche I know they put in their manuals is there shouldn't be more than a 30% difference in tread depth between two tires on the same axle.

Every time we change tires we need to realign? That was another question I forgot to ask, thanks. I've been to Tire Man in the past. I can stop by and talk to them first. Alignment? More to learn.... cool!
Alignment is a good idea whenever you notice the wheel pulling to one side, uneven tread wear, or every 30-50k miles or so (depending on how the car is behaving, what kinds of roads you drive, and how **** you are about your alignment being perfect).

So, here is my update. I decided to go with 18" HRE C90's. I wanted to deal with a local shop and I was torn between the D2Forged FMS01's and the HRE wheels. John at Wheel Enhancement gave me a smoking deal on the C90's and I've got PS2's in 235 and 315's coming in to complete the purchase. Should be ready to go in a week or so. I'll post some before and after images when I get the new wheels installed. Thanks for everybody's help on this. This is what chick's go through when buying shoes! Except they have WAY more shoes than I have wheels!!
