So I have read tons of past posts on offsets. I didn't find any posts on my specific situation, so here I go.

I have the chance to get a steal on some HREs. Problem is they were built for a 997. They are 19x8.5 et41 and 19x11.5 et31. Has anyone had luck running that low of a rear offset with major fender mods?

There aren't any tires currently, so Id also need to figure out the perfect sizes fr and rr.

Fwiw. I run 997 spec offsets. 18x12 in the rear 55et with a 15mm spacer and 335/30 18

I did roll the fender and massaged the liners.

I'm surprised 997 have a 31 et.

 

I am going by what the seller has told me. I have the HRE serial #s. I am going to call them on Monday to verify.

 

what brand of tires were you thinking of running on the rear ?

 

I haven't decided yet. I bought the wheels yesterday. Once they arrive, I can do a test fit. Then I'll determine tire brand/size. I've been looking at Nitto Invo, and Hankooks.

Any recommendations?

2005 996tt cab. Stock suspension currently.

 

this a tough one. if you ran toyo r1 in a 315 25 19 i'de say you will have no problems at all..
a michelin, bridgestone, or continental will rub in any size you get. (315 or 305).
post some pics once the wheels come in and we'll try to help you figure out what to go with. my gut tells me a nitto 315 25 19 may fit (barely)

 

Sounds good. Thanks for the help. I might ditch the 4" lips and order 3.5 lips, which would make the rear offset approx. +38 and the width 11". I plan to run the 315's as of now.

Ill look for a match set of Toyos as well.

 

you'll be good. worst case is gonna be to find an alignment shop with patience.
997 offset is higher than 996.

 

So I spoke with HRE today. Based on the serial numbers, the wheels were indeed built for a 996tt. The rears are 19x11, not 19x11.5 as I was told. The seller obviously did not realize what he had. Score for me. I am about to order the T1Rs. 235/315 combo. I will update the thread with photos as soon as everything arrives.
