What to do for the 10 year service?

My car is nearly a decade old. However, the millage is still fairly modest ~37K. The 30K service was done by a porsche dealership some three years ago. The car has received annual oil change and inspection since new. I am thinking that in addition to the regular annual service, I should also ask to replace coolant, brake and clutch fluids? Am I missing anything? The differential fluid was replaced at the 30K service. Should I replace the transmission fluid?

Out of interest what else was done by your dealership for the 30k service?

For my 2002 @ 24k miles I've added to my list diverter valves (updated to Bosch 710N's), Boost Pressure Test, main drive belt (because I have to assume that it is as old as the car!) and ball-bearing 2nd gear pop-out prevention trick.

They replaced spark plugs and since one of the ignition coils showed a crack in the body, they went ahead and replaced all of them. They replaced differential fluid, vacuumed all the radiators, etc. They also replace the alternator belt because it was showing some signs of feathering.

I wouldn't bother with the coolant, clutch, or transmission, which is the same as the differential. I would flush the brake fluid if it hasn't been done in three years.

Good suggestion.

But don't you think that 10 year old coolant should probably be changed? I know that porsche claims it to be a life-long fluid, so perhaps you are right.

It sure wouldn't be a bad idea to change coolant. When I read "vacuumed the radiators" I was thinking removal of coolant. With the car being 10 years old, you could get and unplanned coolant change if one of the engine hoses let go or the plastic end caps on the radiator start leaking. I had a hose burst on my 2003 under CPO at 35000 miles. I also own BMWs which are notorius for plastic end cap radiators failing. I'm replacing mine soon with aluminum ones as preventative maintenance since I track my car.

Right. It seems like coolant change will take 6 gallons of porsche antifreeze at $35/gal

Peter, you only need 3 gallons of the antifreeze, the other 3 is water.

Porsche "says" the coolant is life time ...But it's not. It's another one of those maintaince items that is hidden. Thus one thinks car ownership is lower...smoke and mirror. Just look up the PCCB failures vs what I'd advertise.

Correct - it is not. I replaced mine with Pentosin coolant last year as it most likely was factory fill from 2002.

So, the consensus so far is replace brake fluid and coolant. What else?

Here's my list of planned maintenance for later this year...might be overkill for some. Items marked with an * depend on what my mechanic says.

It's a 2003 with 50,000 miles.

water pump
thermostat
belts
radiator fluid flush
trans/diff fluid flush
997 coil packs
spark plugs
boost leaks
fuel filter
* fuel pump
* O2 sensors and MAF
* silicone hoses
* motor mounts
* trans mount insert
* intermediate shaft bearing
* Bosch 710N diverter valves
