EVOMSit Delivers Huge 996TT Midrange Power Gains Down Under

Our partners at BWA Auto in NSW, Australia recently retuned a stock-hardware 996 Turbo with EVOMSit software, and delivered huge power gains compared to the previous tune installed. The car gained 100hp and 110ftlb+ in the midrange, completely transforming how it drives without even opening the bonnet!

it actually looks like a road racing tuning that purposely keeps the torque down in the midrange to make the car more predicatble and linear. anyone can spike the boost up with tiny turbos.

Exactly. I just recently installed new turbos and had a new file written for my car that totally eliminates the 4K rpm power spike thus making the power delivery absolutely linear from 2.5K all the way to 7K. Car feels like a normally aspirated car and makes it much easier to drive on a race course.

380whp is the peak power made, and indeed in terms of 'peak power' our tune is near the previous tune, limited by the capabilities of the stock exhaust/turbos/intake.

Where the difference (+100hp, +110ft-lb) comes in is area under the curve. From ~3700-5200rpm, the tune is making significantly more power and torque than the other tune, with the greatest gains of that 100hp at 4600rpm. That whole time the car is accelerating through that rev band, it is putting more power to the ground than the other tune and pulling further and further away. It is within ~20hp of peak power (of 380hp at the wheels) from 4600rpm to 6800rpm, which gives the car great flexibility--you do not have to downshift as much to reach peak power.

Next to power, driveability is the aspect of our tuning we get the most positive feedback on. We do a great deal of development work with boost control and the pedal mapping to maintain driveability and give the driver consistent, repeatable control over the power they request. Based on the feedback we've gotten over the years, we do a good job managing this and the power makes the car MUCH faster out of corners and down the straights, dropping lap times.
