Coilovers for 996TT
Thank you!
Billstein / Koni does factory shocks on hundreds of cars, including my previous M5....which suspension lasted around 60k before SIGNS of going... Why would their coilovers / aftermarket components be any different?

Rebuilding every 2 years is either extreme track use, or crappy coilovers.
I have PSS9 on my 964, street use only, and there are no signs of leaking or degrading in ride quality in 10 years.
My 996tt also mainly street use, has had Pss10 for 3 years and they are still like new.
The Pss10 was a huge improvement in overall ride quality.

Coil overs
Keep in mind some coil over set could potentially use parts from the OEM suspension, for example H&R's I installed used top hat and washers from my original car. Just something to watch for as you finalize a purchase. H&R RSS can be purchased new for roughly $1700, very stiff and planted for track, reasonable ride on good roads.
I used to run ps9's on my m3 for 4 years straight! that includes winter. never got rusted or sized -I dont think i would buy cheap coilovers- I have bad experience in the past/on different cars, leaking or cant adjust them anymore.
I think if you lower the car on h&r or eibach springs just an 1" it won't do any harm to stock shocks.

If you end up lowering your 996TT with coilovers, you won't have enough adjustment on the control arms and toe bars to properly align the car. You will have to spend another $1500 on GT3 2 peace arms and adjustable toe bars... Otherwise you will end up with an aggressive negative camber that will consume your tires every few K miles.

Not sure that I agree with that. I had the PSS9's installed, had the car corner balanced and aligned. The technician actually set my camber slightly less aggressive than the stock setting to protect against excessive inside wear. This could potentially have a slight decrease in handling - but probably nothing that I would even notice. Overall, the alignment is within recommended specs.
You got lucky if you could align everything. My car with the KW V3 just simply ran out of adjustment and was left with too much negative camber. With the shorter gt3 control arms it was easy to make the car perfect.
The amount of misinformation that permeates these forums is vast. Depending on the amount of lowering, generally the only item you need are rear adjustable toe arms to adjust toe back to spec. You certainly don't need GT3 arms for a daily driver but they are a must if you are trying to get increased camber for a more track oriented alignment.
Thanks for all the information! I'm still deciding on which set,...either HR or KW? I am still okay with the idea of even getting a decent set used, but good quality! I just have to decide how low to set the car for daily driving. Thanks.
I agree that there is a lot of misinformation here... However, the GT3 arms or aftermarket arms are needed with the coilovers because they are shorter than the factory turbo arms and they allow more camber adjustments.
Here's a good thread on the topic-
