Maf?

Hi Guys,

My '01 TT has been throwing a P0300 code, but I now have a 0028 too.

Can someone please chime in and let me know if cleaning it has had positive results for you? I was thinking of giving this a shot first opposed to replacing. I have used CRC before with good results on other things. Thanks.

They make special spray for cleaning MAF but I would replace with new. I have cleaned them and they improve but they usually act up again fairly quickly.

That's what I was told by someone else, it sounds like a short-term solution. Thanks for the confirmation, I will just replace it. I just hope it takes care of these codes.

When was the last time you did plugs and coils? Is the car tuned?

0028 is bank 2 high lift I think. check your retaining bracket on the solenoid between cylinder 4 and 5 coils.

My car has close to 18k on it, the plugs and coils are original. Not tuned. Do you not think the MAF is the culprit? I might hold off for right now or try cleaning it so see if this clears the codes temporarily. Thanks Tim.

I do not believe your maf is the culprit. Even if your car has 18k miles it is still 13 years old.. parts do fail. I just take out coils on a 05 turbo S with 27k, all 6 where cracked!

cleaning mafs is a stopgap fools game on these cars. get a new one. i am still doing penance for suggesting in here ad nauseum ( when i was young and foolish ) that the cheap knockoffs were ok to use. they suck.

Make sure you discount the battery when you clean or replace the maf. This will allow the computer to adapt.
