Tiptronic Transmission Tuning

Anybody know if most tuners can tune the Tiptronic, or who can? Can they just tune the full throttle shift points, or can they move other things around as well?

We can!

We offer transmission tuning for all Porsche non-stick cars.

Our TCU (tramsmission control unit) tune will increase the shift speed, it will reduce the time from a manual gear change input to the time the actual gear change occurs, and most importantly it will adjust your torque maps so that more torque is allowed to the wheels.

You will notice tons of gain in the mid-range, for example on a Gallardo we did last week we took it from 91 Ft-Lbs at 3000 RPMs to 166 Ft-Lbs at 3000RPM.

Shoot me an email at wlw@rsctuning.com and we can discuss it further if you would like.

Change Tiptronic full throttle shift rpm.

Bumping this up. Anyone know a tuner that can raise the shift rpm on my 996 tt tip to 7150 rpm?

I would be nice to have the tip controlled more quickly from input. I have my two extras going out for upgrades. The gears get nitrogen diped. Mod to the k3 basket. Blue top pressure . New all other stuff gaskets pump vines and plates. It gets run on a dino then ships back. And an upgrade ed torque converter.

All nice, but the main thing I'm interested in is an increased wide open throttle shift point. Anyone with a 996 tip manage to get an increased shift rpm?

I emailed rsc. For more info. I assume they will get back to me tomorrow. I will ask about the shift point.

All tuners can do this, but it's going to cost you.

I heard from one tuner that they could tune it for faster shifts, but wouldn't raise the shift RPM to protect the transmission (I'm betting they can't because they have a standard third party TCU tune).

I heard from another respected tuner that the 996 TCU can't be tuned, but that some will say it can and take your money.

I'd like to find the guy who actually can adjust the 996 TCU. I'm betting there is one, and everyone farms it out to him.

You won't like this answer but the Syveccs ECU can do this and also shorten the shift speeds. I would also suggest looking into the Maestro software as a possibility. I'm honestly not sure about the latter being able to tweak the Tip trans but it's worth checking to be sure. I believe, but am not certain, that ProEFI isn't currently working on the Tip cars but I could very well be wrong so don't take that as gospel if you're interested in going down that path. I don't know about the AEM but another ECU worth asking about if you really want to go this way. So far Syveccs is the best for this I *think*.

I have also heard in the past that higher RPMs are bad for those transmissions so unless you've addressed whatever it is that's weak you may want to be careful about actually doing this.

I have the Maestro software and there is nothing I've found regarding tiptronic shifting, unless I don't understand the tables.

Short of a new ECU, anyone know of a tuner that can tune the TCU of the 996 tip?

Let me suggest that you don't waste time or money on flashing your TCU or modifying the torque converter either. I've been down this path. Its not fun. The tip tranny is a weak link.

I guess I'm the exception. Maybe it was because the tuner was there in person and tune both TCU and ECU (retuned) at the same time.

btw, hello Todd, hope everything is well!

Edited... and I'm totally agreed with the comment on the tip tranny is a weak link.
