JIC Cross height adjustment on Front

I have a 02 996 TT that I purchased recently with JIC Cross coilover suspension.
Today I decided to adjust the ride height but can't see how it is adjusted on the front -the rear is like the info on the JIC website . I didn't get any info on the system from previous owner and he didn't do any repairs himself .
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciate.
added photos- wondering if adjustment is done with nut below suspension where strut bottom is housed?
Thanks
Wayne

The front coilovers should adjust the height just like the rears, with the twin adjusting collars. The first collar sets the ride height and the second collar locks against the first the set it.

I have those same units on my 03 996TT and have been quite happy with them. They are good units.

what derrick said. you turn the red ring that is against the spring and it raises the coil raising the height. if you want rebound adj. it looks like you have an adj. **** on the bottom of the coil over. the 3rd pic is to blurry to know what it represents

typically it uses a special spanner wrench to turn the red ring

Thanks for the input-I'll look again but on the rear there is a lock ring at bottom and 2 at bottom of spring so you can loosen the bottom and adjust with other 2 so that spring tension stays the same . On the front there is no 3rd ring- just the sleeve which sits flush with the spindle that has the sway bar link attached -but there is a nut where it comes through the bottom of spindle as well as the dampening ****.

if i understand the way these work correctly and this is how mine works, as you turn the red ring that the coil rests on, it raises the coil not compress it. as it raises so does the height of the car.

See if this helps - it is the only documentaiton on the JIC Cross 15pt suspension I got when I bought my car. Love the coilovers, but not much out there in terms of support.

The documentation that thompa1 posted is the same info that I have so I won't repost. As mentioned in the docs and shown in your pic 1, loosen the lower, smaller red collar nut, adjust the upper, larger collar nut up to raise and down to lower, then tighten the lower nut to lock them. As 32krazy said, adjusting the collar nut does not compress the spring only raises or lowers the strut tube to achieve the desired ride height or corner weight. Your third photo shows the helper spring which is typically fully compressed when under load.

Your 4th photo shows the adjuster at the bottom of the strut. You rotate that to adjust the damping. The 996TT struts have 10 sttings. The newer models have 15.

One final note. If the car was ever corner weight adjusted, if for instance you lower the height on the front left you will transfer more weight to the right front and the left rear. So be aware.

I took a look at my front strut and noticed the I do not have the lower collar (a) either. Actually I have only one collar supporting the spring that appears to be secured with a set screw.

I had the units installed by my mechanic in 2008 and haven't had an issue with them. They may have changed the design. Here is a link to them as well as a photo (albeit not a good one as I didn't remove the wheel).

JIC Cross height adjustment on Front

Thanks for the info & photos .
Car was corner balanced and set to gt2 specs when it was installed but I need it a little higher for our roads here in Nova Scotia. Rear looks like adjustment info. provided by JIC and you. Hopefully a fellow member will have done an install of this system and remember-better memory than I!!
thanks again
Wayne

since you don't want to try the info that was given to you the best i could suggest would be to have the car re corner balanced to oem turbo height which is taller than gt2 specs.

JIC Cross height adjustment on Front

Front suspension height adjusted!!
After looking at it again I loosened the strut steering spindle bolt and then the height adjusted without changing tension on spring.
Thanks to Jon @ JIC US who clarified that the lock was actually the collar that the sway bar link mounts to .
Jon did send me info on their new Coilover Suspension for the 996 ( and its manufactured in US).-very helpful indeed
Thanks again for the feedback.
Wayne
