New Oem Transmission mount bushing made in Korea?
New Oem Transmission mount bushing made in Korea?
So a few months ago I replaced my transmission mount with #99737503303 and I noticed the bushings was stamped made in Korea
? Last night I was looking at my old transmission mount and the bushing was stamped made in Germany. What the hell is Porsche using a bushing made in Korea, has anyone else noticed this that have changed their transmission mount recently?

Is there some reason that you think a rubber bushing molded in Korea would be inferior to one molded in Germany? Seem like an easy part to spec and manufacture anywhere in the world without much trouble.
Why so? Peoples in these bulletin boards have been saying this. Do you use Iphone, Ipad, IMac, etc.? Or even any smartphone? Many factories in China are following really tough guidelines set by brandnames. I was in a IPhone factory in China before - they claim no one in the world can do a better job in creating the aluminum casings in mass.
"Don't buy parts from China" is so naive.

You hear this all the time "made in China is crap". I won't buy anything made in China, etc. I guess these peoples want to show off how superior they are for not using anything made in China. Wake up, this is a global economy and U.S. is lagging now.
The fact is that a large portion, or most, of the electronic appliances are made in China nowaday. Cell phone, TV, computers, LCD screens etc. Unless you live in a cave, you would buy something made in China. It is true that U.S. invented LCD, but no U.S. company is making LCD now. Stop using the PC/Pad that you are using to view this post. I can guarantee that a major portion or assembly was made in China. Some of the know-hows in China have already passed the U.S. For example, no company in the United States can manufacture the iPhone casing in numbers. Even looking at the high-tech semiconductor industry, can you name a semiconductor company (except Intel) manufacture ICs in the U.S.? Thanks for our government and business leaders, U.S. just simply does not have the education system and infrastructure to maintain high quality and high quantity manufacturing. It is sad, but it is true. And the saddest part is peoples still claiming that I don't use parts made in China. Ask yourself on what you have done to correct it!?

Like I said, if the mounts were made in china I would be looking to source it from some where else. Yeah, all our ipads and such are made in china, but they are held to specifications here. Something as simple as a motor mount or hand tools have no commitment back to QC standards here. Its buyer be aware.
All the china fan boys; when we start getting flooded with chinese cars, are you willing to forgo German engineering and pick up one of those cars? Sure its a global economy today, but that doesn't mean you don't have the right to pick and choose quality.

You are mistaken about the quality of education available in the US. We have the best university system in the world. That's why the Chinese send their children here. The problem is that ( due to government regulations) we do not encourage them to stay (tax regs do not allow US corporations to be competitive so fewer opportunities, difficult immigration laws).
The problem with some Chinese produced goods is they do not feel compelled to produce quality. They choose to in some things, but in others they choose not to. That in itself is not the problem. The problem is that they will not disclose the quality level on much of what they produce. I own a 65 Mustang Fastback in addition to my 996tt. It is truly buyer beware with Chinese after market parts. My experience is they are consistently inferior in both quality and fit compared to U.S. made after market parts even though they are described exactly the same in catalogs.

Years ago I restored one of my Mustangs and found the China parts never fit and were poor quality= went with NOS or made in USA from then on. I prefer my parts from here or Europe but I'm an old school thinker lol.
You are right, it is the quality control issue. Some manufacturers are making some good products, and some are not. You can still can get some high quality products by well-known companies even though the products are made in China, as long as these companies police the quality. My point is that it is just plain stupid, or discriminatory, to just say that all made in China products are crap.
Regarding the quality of education, U.S. has a great university system. However, we have one of the worst pre-college (i.e., high school, middle school) system in the world. The schools are not challenging, nor demanding. Most of the high schools here do not focus on education at all. As you said, Chinese and Indian sent all their brightest here for college education. Lots of the best students in engineering and science are foreginers. In that case, where are the American students? The best American students only want to be lawyers and stock brokers, most of them do not want to be in engineering to design and manufacture "suspension parts".
