Clutch Upgrade Suggestions
Clutch Upgrade Suggestions
I am beginning to get some slippage under boost so I am doing my research on which clutch I should be upgrading to. My car is a 2002 X50 with GIAC tune, Fabspeed exhaust, upgraded diverters and EVOMS Wastegate actuators. The car has 51k miles and I am guessing the additional power and possibly poor driving style wore this OEM clutch out early.
From what I have read the Sachs 2.5 clutch is perfect for the street since I will not be tracking the car. I would like OEM drive-ability and to not spend a fortune. I also do not plan on upgrading to a LWFW.
Open to everyone's thoughts and thanks in advance.

the oem sachs along with a gt2 disc is more than adequate to the task esp if you're sticking with the dmfw. if you feel you need to spend a bit more without any noticeable improvement? the sachs 2.5 kit is the next logical step up. particularly if you plan on adding power in the future.
that said, the oem clutch w gt2 disc is solidly good up to 500 -/+ whp. really.

I am guessing the accelerated wear is related to more driving habits than power since I doubt I am coming close to those numbers
i got mine from sambott in here. he'll beat or match nearly anyones price and he gives good advice no extra charge lol
i drive hard also but only use my clutch for shifting and i often double clutch ( which has zero effect on clutch ) but you get my drift... i RARELY slip it and from a stop am able to disengage clutch slowly w/out gas and go. no slip. i never "launch" either.
i just replaced mine at 115,000 miles and i'll never outlive this new clutch lol; oem w gt2 disc. hit up sam, get his advice too. either way, ya can't go wrong with sachs. upgraded or oem since they are oem lol
edit: one final thought..
if money is a consideration? i think my clutch cost me maybe 1000/1100 tops. can't beat that. just saying...

I just replaced mine a few months ago I went with AWE Tunning Sachs 2.5 kit and kept my stock dmfw it was still in great condition at 38,500 miles. So far it feels just like the stock oem clutch and holds power great.
you'll never have to give it any more thought
You can go either way at your level. I will see what i can do to make the upgrade worth it for you so that in the future you have room for more crazy!
