IPD 74mm Plenum w 997TT TB ?? any downside?
I guess do it then. As far as imagining your car can't handle more air... That's not it.
It will take more air but your fuel system won't add enough fuel to maintain a safe ratio.
In a huge meth fan... That came out wrong.
The Wagner intercoolers I got for about 1300 shipped
On my race tune I make about 685 to 690 rwhp. Stock y pipe and stock tb. I even had my tb go bad (perfect excuse to upgrade). Just not worth the money to me.

ya meth kit is lousy terminology.. and folks read this stuff lol
sent you pm asking about the wagner kit. thx. i get the fuel air thing. i really do. the wisdom of logging is becoming clear to me. five/six yrs in two different 96t's and i haven't "needed" to log once! that i know of!? seems like now might be the time.

...but realize now that injectors and i/c's might be a wiser next move.. and i even get why lol. those are more labor intensive/costly and need to be balanced against my goals. however logical they are sequentially.
so, when you mention other simple mods? beyond larger ic's/injectors/intake and piping. AND tb/plenum. what would you add? thx.

I'd suggest the GT2RS coolers, bigger injectors and a (re)tune to start. Next would be to upgrade the turbos or even just hybriding the K24s your X50 already has, which would then call for a bigger fuel pump and possibly intake piping, and of course a re-retune. That's a new car right there.
After that you're getting into the high 600s and beyond that would necessitate the plenum, and oh yeah, a built motor. Details, details...
I may have missed your saying so, but do you track it or drag it, or just like the rush on the open road from time to time?

The "even getting why" part was the most fun I had during my build, too.

thx for the added advice though. the rest is too much of a good thing for my daily applications.
but thx, i might be prcing those. but any upgrades need to be compatible with my pre-existing cargraphic tune. i am NOT re-tuning my car lol
just finished install of my 68mm ipd plenum because i had a cpl hours and a grand to kill
i opted instead for the smaller stock 68 as i thought it might better suit my needs.
my first take was a cpl miles in 95 degrees ( trying ) checking boost levels after a wg adjustment but have not had a chance to allow the ecu to re-adapt yet as that takes a few hard pulls and there are smokeys galore outside and all up my backyard ( weekend are for tourists and bikes/bicycles ). so nothing to report yet in terms of any perceived gain but if i feel it? it'll be after it adapts and with some room to run. but too soon to tell. film at 11.
but it sure looks an improvement in engineering over the plastic oem plenum. they sure made some cheap lookin oem parts for these cars. sheesh. maybe i'll make a beer bong out of it

All I can say is I dyoned that 68 plenum against the stock one,,,and I put the stock one back on..
But each combo might work different..
First pulls 3rd/4th gear at 100 + temps are inconclusive but my boost levels are good. Was uberboosting a bit before. Seemed to hold 1.1 but its freakin hot right now. I'll know more in the cool of the morning
Well its kind of an experiment I admit, but I'm mostly seeking gains down low/mid range.

Well if that's what you are looking for better low end and better throttle response gain,,But after around 5,000 RPM its a different story..
The plenum I have now with the 74 TB is one that TIM941NYC gave me which is a modified IPD with the divider cut out off, made like a stock style one to accept 74TB..Tim tested and made over 800 HP with that way back when.
That set-up still didn't do to much for me as compared to the stock set-up except help take some of upper RPM dip out which Todd from Protomotive told me it would before I tested it.
I did make a thread on it in the past when I did the test with the Dyno sheets ..
I hope yours with your set-up does you good..Turbo Mike is a great guy ..

) and i'm gonna talk outa the side of my neck here and guestimate that i have picked up about 10 to a ( possibly overly?optimistic ) 15%!? increase in spool/throttle response, and that's just based on some very quick and admittedly highly inconclusive/undocumented result(s), and only judging by my seat of the pants/assdyno. but it's none too subtle, and anyone would notice an improvement, i would think.what i can say with certainty is, i have not wasted my time or money today.
yes, that's all i was hoping to achieve. where i drive every day, much time above 5k rpm will put me over a cliff. very tight corners up and down. oddly, i live btw 3 and 5k.
