Feeler/feedback request - '02 Turbo for sale
As winter approaches I'm looking to sell my '02 Turbo. I've got it listed on Craigslist and have gotten some interest, wondering if there is anything additional I should ad to the listing. Also interested in feedback on the price.

Asking price looks fair assuming good condition with maybe a little wiggle room for haggling.
Having just bought almost the same car I would want to see more pictures\ details focused on imperfections. Definitely would want interior, trunk, and underbody shots. Perhaps some sort of grading (9/10, 7/10, etc) for Body, Paint, Interior, Mechanical condition, etc
Also I would address the problematic areas. Does the wing work, Does it have the second gear pop out issue. etc

Much better than most craigslist ads. If you haven't all ready, I would post it in the for sale section here on 6speedonline as well as that other porsche forum to get some country wide exposure.

Sounds like its priced low to me. Good looking car and your ad covers the basics and then some= if someones serious they will ask pertinent questions and come see it in person- good luck.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm firm at $40k, wondering if that's too low. I've gotten a lot of interest so far but not sure how many are tire kickers. I'm not a big fan of negotiating price so I set the price at my intended sell price, but maybe I should have started higher to build in some wiggle room?
I agree its best to set the price higher because most people have to feel as though they beat you down lol. I have bought and sold more cars then I can remember and when the right buyer comes along it will sell without all the bs. I personally have never bought a car that I haven't seen in person and would never sell a car that wasn't inspected in person by buyer. Pictures are nice but a car has to be seen in person as I have went to inspect only to drive by see the horrible real condition and keep going= pictures can be very deceiving.

I recently sold a 997 through Craigslist and yes I did price higher knowing most people like to feel good about getting a discount. Sadly there are tons of tire kickers and low ballers on Craigslist. Price seems a good deal for buyer.
It seems a very fair price to me although at $40,000 you will get all kinds of people offering $35,000. I would have listed it at $41,500 and allowed a purchaser to negotiate down to $39,900. That way you get the $40,000 you know it's worth and the buyer psychologically feels like a winner.
Same car as mine, just bought in May. Bad news is I paid $32.8k, but it had 30k more miles if that helps. You need better pics. There is a special front end on your car, but the pics aren't doing it any justice.
Feedback? OK.
I hope you realize selling a Porsche Turbo in October is like selling a motorcycle at the end of the season. You are attracting people looking for something really cheap to store until Spring. Generally people aren't excited about sports cars before Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. They are thinking about winterizing or putting away what they have.
If your car was "Fire Sale" priced and you were offering it at rough trade in price for under $30K it would go quick or even clean trade at $32,300. At NADA "Clean Retail" of $36,625, it still may take some time to move. At $40K you are $3,375 over NADA Retail. Most serious buyers that shop around and look at a lot of cars want in below this price.
Real serious buyers are looking all the time at Auto Trader, Ebay, Craigs List, Cars.com. and also have feelers out at Porsche Dealers looking for trades that the dealers may ultimately wholesale. If your car was priced too low it would have sold hours after listing it. I found a few low priced examples that were mint, one sold within a couple of hours of being listed. Dealer here had a nice mint original owner Turbo 2 years ago priced below NADA retail and it sold same day.
If you think $40 is low, stay firm and it should sell easily within a week. If not it's priced too high for this time of year. A Porsche Turbo is a want, not a need and selling it is all about emotion and timing. IMHO this is the worst time of year.
