bad new! for me...

One observation then, Markski, for what it is worth. You actively market your products using layinback's 60-130 times. If you know those times to be a result of pushing those products past a prudent level, to (literally) the point of engine failure in a significantly lightened car, you probably shouldn't use those numbers to sell stuff to inexperienced new owners. Not bashing, just my opinion.

Seems to me an outsider that there is a lesson in this for everyone= you have to pay to play and be careful how you market your products. I'm sure the original poster saw this coming and he has handled it with the right attitude.

OP no windows in the block is certainly a good thing and will make the rebuild cheaper. keep us updated on the progress.

He ran the 60 to 130 record at 1.65 bar, that he can confirm, yet when he popped it he registered 2.2 bar on greddy( recall button)... it was a mistake... had he known that he would never do it... they were adjusting wgs as the car was spiking... mind you... he bought used A28s and car left us without even being tuned.... this was all remote...
thats a fact... so yes Im promoting the 60 to 130 at 1.65 bar on race GAS - ms 109 in a lighter car... just like everyone else does... because you will never see a fast number on a stock weight car... and I've never had a motor fail at that level on good gas...
1.65 bar on MS 109 vs 1.9 bar on 91oct and meth are totally 2 different things... worlds apart....
all I did as a paid sponsor was give him good honest advice.. to lower the boost to 1.5 bar( pump and meth)... why you guys think otherwise blows my mind... where were some of you on that other thread.. Im sure you and some others that posted would NEVER run 1.9 bar on 91 and meth with A28s on your own car... or would you? because I didn't see any of you warning him to turn it down... I did and here I am - Im the bad guy now... 6speed has really become something it never has been before... that is probably why a many left the site... your taking it to a different level getting my business involved and pointing out that Im promoting record numbers to "sell stuff to inexperienced owners"... are you serious? SMH... do you apply that same theory to your preferred tuners /shops as well or just me...

Markski did not sell me any parts, nor did he tune my car. What Markski has done is offer very sound & appreciated advice over the years.
I have nothing but good things to say about Markski's honesty & intregity.
It's funny in life how people observe the past & cast blame. S#*^ happens. Welcome to life.

The following is my opinion...
If some clown goes on to blow up his engine AFTER being warned by a seasoned 996tt pro that he was going over the known limits... That pro, in my opinion, has every right to say "I told you so clown", regardless of whether said pro is a vendor or not.
I also feel that the clown has every right to get his kicks by toasting engines, if he so chooses.
Point being...it's still a free country....mostly.
The op came back and gloated about toasting his engine. What did he expect? IMO, he got what he deserved.
While I am not currently a customer, I hope and encourage Markski to continue to offer his experience driven advice AND opinions here.

personally i have a feeling this isn't done on most motors due to cost and shops not telling the customer. it may be why some aftermarket head bolts fail but thats just a assumption on my part

Only thing is, Markski didn't call him a clown. He just pointed out that he'd given advice (others gave the same advice in that thread) to not push a stock motor that hard.
Problem I see is that a lot of members here have a long memory, but this forum is also searched and visited and joined by a bunch of new people all the time. Many are looking for help from reputable tuners. And one way tuner makes his reputation is to give free advice, that proves to be valid, based on experience. Here we have all three ingredients. Markski gave advice. It proved to be valid. Based on his experience and that of the OP in this case. He shouldn't be bashed for pointing that out for current and future readers.
Nowhere in his post did I hear gloating or schadenfreude, as it were.
People love dat drama though!

I'm an outsider in this as far as doing mods to my 996tt but have blown many motors in my day doing same type things to my other cars= it happens. I know things get heated but Markski has been there many times with good free help/advice for you guys so I believe you should give him a break he seems like a good person.
#43
speaking of schadenfreude lol. enjoyed that screen capture.. looks like you have a new friend lol

lol wha a thread disaster wanabe... !lets stay calm here and respect each other and plz let me finish this thread with love and joy lol! this thread is base on my humble opinion respect and experience no need for drama! go beat that porscha and share your experience !
so based on my experience i saw 2.1bar or 32psi spike 1.8-1.9 bar every day EBC set at 100% duty, beatin drag, etc...now she only need surgery NOT BLOWN yet only knock !
i beleive in meth and high boost , watch your log IMO
stock engine can take 1.5,1.6 bar on a28 + meth every day for million light years IMO

i am for once ( here anyway ) above the fray in this debate but i wish you great success and yes, your motor isn't blown! it's just a knockin' lol.
and i think you may be right about upper level boost. i have seen my gauge at 1.5 before and while i don't want to live there, it seemed like a nice place to visit even if it was my wg's out of whack! lol.
but i admire your sense of adventure and esprit de corps in spite of your recent episode. so here's to you and what i'm sure will be your many more miles of meth induced boost lol
