i would go e85 anytime if there where station around ! but meth is cheap here 7$ gallon so no brainer... my new tune i will lower my rev limiter to 7000rpm cuz a28 dont need more then that anyway...

but i admire your sense of adventure and esprit de corps in spite of your recent episode. so here's to you and what i'm sure will be your many more miles of meth induced boost lol

just a slight correction to your statement Markski,my setup was 1.9-2+bar spike 94 oct pump + twin nozzle 100%meth (about 1700cc extra)
that is a huge difference between 91oct+meth btw orbelo did 700whp++ on a28+ 91oct+meth all rod where in perfect shape when he opened from his statement , ! i never ever saw knock from my log ! low end torque( 4500rpm) spiking 2bar+ will more likely bent rod in my case if its the case and probably is...
my respect

thats a fact... so yes Im promoting the 60 to 130 at 1.65 bar on race GAS - ms 109 in a lighter car... just like everyone else does... because you will never see a fast number on a stock weight car... and I've never had a motor fail at that level on good gas...
1.65 bar on MS 109 vs 1.9 bar on 91oct and meth are totally 2 different things... worlds apart....
all I did as a paid sponsor was give him good honest advice.. to lower the boost to 1.5 bar( pump and meth)... why you guys think otherwise blows my mind... where were some of you on that other thread.. Im sure you and some others that posted would NEVER run 1.9 bar on 91 and meth with A28s on your own car... or would you? because I didn't see any of you warning him to turn it down... I did and here I am - Im the bad guy now... 6speed has really become something it never has been before... that is probably why a many left the site... your taking it to a different level getting my business involved and pointing out that Im promoting record numbers to "sell stuff to inexperienced owners"... are you serious? excellent point. i feel my 16/24's run out of juice before 7200 also. i think you are wise to de-tune a bit at least for reliability! good luck man whatever you do.

I was just giving an opinion; I've seen your ads and I think they would give an inexperieced person an unrealistic expectation for what a basic K16 or A28 kit should produce in acceleration times. "Bolt on this kit and you can run this time too!" is kinda how it came across IMHO, from memory. Again, not bashing you - it was just an observation FWIW. Yes, all firms tend to focus on their accomplishments, but I disagree with the "everyone does it" logic you use above.

You also do provide a lot of free advice based on your experiences (why the angry face after "at no gain for me"?) and everyone, myself included, appreciates that. The OP has always been straightforward that he planned to test the limits of what his stock engine could handle - I took this thread as a "well, I found the limit - now I'm going to build it" tone - not a "woe is me, why didn't anyone warn me?" tone.

Final thought - 6speed is one of the best automotive forums on the internet. Particularly for 996 turbo, 997 turbo, and 991 turbo information. People come and people go, for a variety of reasons - a primary one is they buy and sell different cars. I used to LIVE on MBworld, and now almost never visit. Why? Simple: because I don't have an AMG anymore, and haven't in over a year - so I focus on the sites where I do have an active interest instead. An implied suggestion that 6speed is going down the tubes ("many left the site") due to people like me being here is unwarranted and frankly also inaccurate. Old vendors like EVOMS and newer ones like COBB are both coming out with new and innovative solutions all the time - it's just primarily focused on the 997 and newer crowd.

^^ I fully agree! The guy at the very least bent a rod and went kite surfing! I'd be drowning my sorrow in beers of tears.
Only to add.. Vendors should give advice or not but never snivel if their advice goes unheeded or even ignored. Give it or don't.

This place is great and I've learned more on balance from regular joes in here than any "experts" though thankfully all play along at whatever level their car or knowledge base.
As it should be.

Markski is a good guy, honest and helpful... also best guardian of your wallet!
I am just a client, nothing to loose or win.

For sure 6speed is not like it used to be 2 years ago for example, at least this is my perception... less performance talk and numbers, community and enthusiasm, but more and more hidden marketing for some shops and products ... also some other platforms are newer and provide more performance with less mods, let's face it..

Regarding 60-130 claims, all of the big names/shops are promoting high hp, low 60-130, 1/4 miles etc... UNREAL and no chance to reproduce that in real life... 9second cars on stock engine+small turbos... crazy 60-130 on stock engine "220+driver and passenger going uphill"

How should we see a thread -sale of a product were the dealer makes the announcement and after that the same dealer under another name makes comments/review of that product ?! Congratulates the dealer, etc.. And this happens for a lot of products, not one or two..

Mtlsp has a really nice setup, pushing it to the limit, he knew what was going to come.. I also ran a few times that kind of boost on that kind of fuel... and as he said.. no knocking.. timing is perfect, i would say even better than ms109... Markski told me to run 1.8bar tops and only on racegas, 1.5-1.6 on meth+pump94... I didnt listen and I know i assumed risk running that kind of boost, i have upgraded rods but still a failure from the meth kit will do a lot of damage to my engine, receiving free advice is good for us, I dont see the problem...

I am a believer that using a full failsafe setup and a top quality meth kit is mandatory to use that kind of boost on meth, it works well but is risky

And one last note... depends how much timing the car runs.. I had a very aggressive map before and I saw timing retard above 1.75bar... I did a 91+meth tune and ran on 94+100meth... timing is PERFECT till 1.85bar ( max boost I tested so far on pump+meth )

Good luck fixing your engine Mike hope to hear soon about some 4s

I just saw your thread. It sounds like a bent rod. The rod is most likely slightly bent where the crank counter weight passes the rod ... hence the tic, tic, tic.

Stop using your engine to prevent major damage. Been there, done that.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad news but it sounds you're taking it well. There's cutting edge and there's bleeding edge. I'd say you're in the latter camp my friend What's the difference between the two? Money.

Looks to me like you're making the best of the situation and looking at it as an opportunity to upgrade some parts.

Of course there's the added bonus of starting a cool build thread

I have a new set of A28's in Tial housings and im sooooooo tempted to put them on my low mileage motor but cant risk it, I have the original 80K miles engine and a set of carrillos, ARP stud kit, Uprated pump, flowed heads and GT3 cams so when it gets quieter we will build that and turn her into a 3.8. Do you guys not run meth mixed in with your gas? we had a K16 hybrid car pick up like 90hp using a syvecs ecu and fuel flex sensor on a 20% meth mix in the tank, the ecu automatically switches into meth mode when it detects meth in the fuel and puts a map for the % of meth it detects.

typically the meth is injected into the incoming air stream to aid in cooling the air prior to mixing with the fuel. use of a flex fuel analyzer or e85 analyzer is for running fuels that need to be calculated for ethanol or octane levels for tuning ala syvecs or proefi aem etc. for the tunes that are installed

I did not like the tangent that this thread was taking. I do not like seeing people argue for subjects as complex without really knowing the people involved. (I respect everyone here…) I met Mike and I had the chance to discover a passionate man and, to my surprise, a man who had lot of knowledge in the tuning. If it went that far, he is the only responsible and he was very aware of the consequences of his actions! The TT is a toy for him and now he has a new adventure that awaits him, engine removal and find a good place to fixit … Last thursday he call me and ask me when I was available to help him to remove the engine. I told him on october 17 (busy with work and grandchild's). The next day, in the morning he was starting the project alone with the help of "our" numerous threads on the subject. That's the way 6peed community can help and support someone in need! I myself received this help and I am a thousand times grateful...

There is a very good chance if you don't keep running it, the internal damage will be limited to replacing the rods and doing a good cleaning of the engine (like all the oil passages, oil pump etc to remove any metal filings.)
