Shattered window. How the hell!
either vandalism or a complete freak of nature, take it as either...odd time with rear window defrosters it can happens as well, but very rare....I'd spray Plasti-dip or similar on the 'glass' to hold it together for removal, it gets everywhere...
Could you have closed the door and window trying to close catching the wet lip somehow causing the stress crack ?
Maybe some metal contact on glass causing it to crack. Years back I had a mobile audio shop and watched a tech tucking the wires from and antenna mount for cellphones using his metal tuck tool . One odd contact and caused a windshield to spider crack in front of both our eyes

good thought, I had a microswitch fail causing inconsistent window not to go down when door open
If the window regulator caused the window to be under pressure until it broke - Wouldn't that have caused the whole thing to break apart once the window shattered as the motor continued to push after the window had broken? The fact that it stayed in place after breaking would suggest the window just shattered with no external forces at play.
I just found the answer. No Ghost or relays. You have the "Dealers window!" Duh!

Well...... It just happened again!! Exact same scenario. Washed car yesterday, pulled it back into the garage, rolled passenger window down halfway, hooked up battery tender through cigarette lighter and this is what I come home too. Not real happy at the moment.
