exactly what i'm doing to my new wing. the plastidip just won't handle any nicks like a matte wrap will. my stocker wing has been wrapped for yrs also and not a scratch!

my hood has been wrapped ( matte blk on arctic slvr ) for a few years and aside from some road rash, it's holding up remarkably well and yet the plastidip i just sprayed all over my wheels? seems to be holding up ( 2 wks ) just fine! its weird stuff no doubt.

so im gonna matte wrap my wing/mirrors ( while the air scoops are fine dipped !? low impact area! )... rip that spray can stuff off ( it was an experiment after all lol leave the roof and hood since they dont need new plastic and be done! my car now is exactly 50/50 blk and silver and finally ( to my taste ) "works" i shoulda blacked out the brushed alum wheels long ago but it's fun to change it up! and i get + comments on it daily so thats cool

we're on the same path

Looks great!

On my 6TT I had Plastidipped my GT2 track wheels and it held up great. I would spray an new coat on top of old from time to time as the track heated tended to brown the matte black a bit. Very easy to peel right off when your ready for something new.

I'm thinking about wrapping at least the hood on my white GT3 now.

I've been planning on doing this type of thing on my car for a while... Only white.

Did you use knifeless tape? Ever have issues with cutting into the paint?

My car came with a matte black "Wrap" (It was actually a satin clear bra over the entire car). The paint has slash marks ALL over it from when they just cut through the bra into the paint.. its a damn shame.

Yep I did use knifeless tape, works pretty slick. I also took apart everything I could (bumpers, mirrors, door handles, weather stripping, side scoops, wing, etc) so I could wrap all edges instead of having to cut. That sucks about the slash marks....maybe a good detailer could fix it.

Wanted to do mine but was wondering about cuts in the clearcoat. I think a Magnus Walker look might be cool for a while.
