Clutch Switch Question - I want to disable it
I also like the kill switch but now the clutch switch is prone to failure!? That's news to me.
It is the same switch that is on my 987.1 Boxster and it went out under warranty.
They put in another one and it went out the next day during my first autocross.
I put in the kill switch after that.

i just re-read your earlier post re the toggle. its genius. well done. i must figure out how to get this done. i can't get my head past the twisting of the two wires to disable it. i get that. this is a great idea. the things ya learn here....
This is an easy job if you order the switch from Pep Boys (I know... but this switch is perfect for the job) from my earlier post.
The brown wire from the clutch switch plugs in the center post on the kill switch.
The other yellow/brown wire from the clutch switch plugs on the end post on the kill switch (the end that is not labeled ground).
You will then need to make a ground wire by soldering or crimping a fastener to mate to the ground post on the kill switch. The other end of the wire needs to be grounded.
I also put on some heat shrink.
I used several zip ties to hold the kill switch near the plug in port.

I would suggest a switch that is only on when you are pushing it - "momentary on". That would make it like a start button that bypasses the clutch switch only when depressed. That would stop people from forgetting about it and running into trouble and also allow the functionality that people are looking for who want this mod.
The clutch disc, pressure plate and input shaft all spin regardless of whither the clutch is depressed or not.
I don't think anyone planning this mod really expects to be starting the car with the clutch out. They are trying to find a way to use the clutch pedal limiter and still start the car. The plan is to still depress the clutch - just not enough to engage the clutch pedal switch.

Yes, I was wrong. The pressure plate does spin as it is bolted to the flywheel.
Hi, I'm bringing this thread back to see if anyone has been able to modify the existing safety switch to work with the RSS clutch stop? The reason why I would like to do this is for possible future ECU tuning with such features as launch control. In that case, the ECU needs to know when the clutch pedal is fully depressed. The toggle and momentary switch mods are great for safety, but don't reflect clutch pedal position to the ECU.
Thanks,
Franc
