Alternator 'rebuild'

Alternator 'rebuild'
Figured I'd post this in-case anyone is on the fence about 'rebuilding' their own...very quick and easy job, assuming you don't need to re-do the shaft bearings or front pulley.
My alternator was failing at 63k km, 11y.o....now back to 13.5-14V
Replaced the voltage regulator with HUCO(made in Germany) #130570..alternative to the Bosch F00M145350, F00M144136, etc etc...there are MANY part numbers we can use...cheap and easy fix.
Tech tip: Sometimes the alternator can be hard to slide back onto its engine perch, if so, try pulling the steel bushing-threaded mounting point out a bit to provide more clearance, it will 'tighten' itself back to proper clearance when back on the perch and torqued. The short alt. mounting bolt + oversize short socket are a simple puller, only 1-2mm is needed for very easy re-fitting.
Have attached pictures(sorry for crappy cell pics) of complete alternator back, with regulator removed, and new(left) vs old(right) regulators.
Cheers,
Rob

Thanks for the tip! I fear that my alternator is also failing (or already failed), as my voltage drops as I drive the car and I'm experiencing an intermittent high idle issue (could also be a vacuum leak). Anyways, I plan to take care of it tomorrow.
