I would not buy a car which is technically not ok.
Type 1 revs can go up to 65000! After that the counter stops. Type 2 revs aint good, but a few aint a problem. My car has 176 and no problem at all.

i see you are passing. Just a comment:

I would NOT have the owner just fix the coolant leak, then you buy the car. You are missing a glorious opportunity to fix the coolant hose issue that will likely bite you some time in the future. There is $2000-2500 worth of labor in the oil cooler fix that would apply to pinning or welding the coolant fittings..... my 2 cents

Don't feel bad. I looked for a year before I bought my Turbo. I had several walk around inspections from forum members in different states giving me opinions before investing $$$ in PPIs. I did have nearly half a dozen PPIs done on cars that I would purchase had there been no issues. The one I have now passed 100%, had only 17K miles, all keys, books, records, tools, etc. No stories, no issues. I traveled out of state to look it over in the flesh and was blown away. I without hesitation agreed to buy it without even sitting in the car or listening to it run. It looked showroom mint everywhere and I could tell just by the demeanor of the seller it was. Nearly 4 years later still pleased as punch and at the less than $150 I've had to spend in repairs for an accumulator. Tires, oil and expendables are maintenance items and not included.
