Couple of issues - Need Opinion

Hello,

I have a couple of questions on my 996tt. I just purchased a 996tt and just picked it up a couple of days ago. Thanks in advance!

1. This might be a weird question but what is the color inside the intake duct? At first, I thought it was black but it looks grayish to me. See attached picture.

2. Th oil level indicator malfunction comes on. I'm pretty sure it is just the sender. Is this a common issue? Should I be concerned about driving the car. The car seems to drive perfectly fine

3. I know this is a common issue but the spoiler does not lift up anymore. Is there a DIY fix for this or should I take it to the shop. What is the typical issue for this?

Thanks all!

1. Mine is black 2. Have a well qualified mechanic look at it. 3. Very common. Worked on mine out of the car, fix lasted a couple of months. No good solution...yet...but I'm working on it.

iirc the *failing* sender malfunction just bounces the needle!? it doesn't register red on the dash as i remember the stories. red? that is usually more portentuous.

your rams aren't working which i would venture is because they are so low on fluid as to be just inoperable. up or down. most have intermittent warnings ( up/down ) that preclude outright failure. ymmv.

there's all kinds of solutions depending upon the severity of their inoperability. including fixed wing bolt kits for 150 that fix them "up".

read up on those that have already ( myself included ) dealt with this, you'll be here for days. good luck.
.... and yes. congrats!

My ducts are black. The other two issues have tons of threads and both are very common problems. The sender malfunction will peg your oil pressure meter, then drop to zero for no reason, then jump back up. It's a $60 part and lots of guys have replaced it themselves - I paid a couple hundred to have mine done by my indy. You'll have some choices for the wing fix - try a search.

My ducts are gray ish. So are the side skirts. Car is black. My car came from florida for example. Age. car sits in the sun throgh the day soaking in heat. Im going to replace mine after winter, ducts. Side skirts and front lower windshield plastic. You can use some cleaner for plastic, blackmagic helps a little

This car was in CA all its life so maybe it is also fading from the sun. I wasn't sure if the ducts was replaced and was not "painted" black like how it is supposed to be. After looking into it, the part comes in only black instead of primer or gray so this makes me feel better.

I'm going to take my car to a shop tomorrow to get it checked up. My oil pressure gauge is perfectly fine. It never drops to zero and always read between 3 - 5.

You can spray much of that black trim with wurths trim paint and it will look good as new.

I use this for my black surfaces:

http://adamspolishes.com/shop/exteri...out-spray.html

It makes black plastic look new and because it's a spray, it gets in all the small places . . . Good luck! KH

You can also try Mother's Back To Black - it wipes right on and seems to last a long time.
