Console Riser Kit - thoughts? reviews?

Already posted this in the 996 forum, but thought some Turbo guys may have some input...

Hey guys, I just bought a 996 GT3 console delete kit for some more legroom in my Carrera (not installed yet) but then I ran across this Console Riser Kit from Function-First:

http://function-first.com/products/i...-riser-kit-996

I'm considering purchasing this unit instead, as I was very hesitant about losing the cubby bin in the lower console with the console delete, and I would be able to keep it with this kit. Plus, my track car has a raised shifter, and it would be awesome to have that similar setup in my street car.

Anybody have this in their car? Pics? Reviews? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I believe this Consol Riser Kit is relatively new. Might take a month before any personal reviews comes out.

Are they actually suggesting that Porsche might have been WRONG, when they designed an armrest that was too low to actually rest your arm on?

Looks interesting.

Later, Steve

Hah yea the low armrest kills me (in addition to the torture device they attached to the door and called a map pocket lid) so I've been seriously considering picking one of these up.

It's a attempt to get the shifter up closer to the wheel, great for track work.
I run a tall shifter on my race car. When I track the turbo it feels a bit low and a long reach. I drove a students 930 and felt like I was reaching to the floor to shift closer to the wheel is good.

Thanks for all the input, guys! Looks like my patience paid off this time - they have a Black Friday sale going on for the Riser Kits, so I'll be going this route with the storage bin model. Once the car's back from the shop with everything installed I'll post my thoughts and a review.

Be on the lookout for a brand new GT3 console delete kit in the classifieds section soon

i was considering their first1st unit but it ( i dont think? ) suits my needs as my issues are less the height of the console as the fact i have that awful alcantara and was hoping to replace with their kit with what appeared to be plush shiny new blk leather.

i am confused by the kit, but also not the sharpest guy when it comes to parts or envisioning end results.

i would vey much like a crack at that gt3 delete kit, that i understand! so if/when you sell would you please pm me.. or at anytime! TIA

So I finally picked up my car from the shop yday. All I can say is WOW!!! The shifter is up high where I like it - shifts feel much more natural. I no longer have to reach all the way down from the steering wheel to snap off shifts. I won't have a chance to track my car until the Spring, but I anticipate this to help tremendously when I'm hammering shifts trail-braking deep into the corners! Not to mention the higher elbow rest make for added comfort and better posture on those highway excursions to and from the track

Kudos to a unique and great product!

Sorry, shop did not get pictures of the actual install (if that's what you were looking for), but I'll post some pics of the finished product later this week when I get a chance to snap some pics!

Yes please, shots of what it looks like would be very nice! Just trying to picture this and how it's beneficial is all.
