Hi everyone, need some help

Hi guys, im new to this forum and i would like to introduce myself.

I currently have a 2002 bmw m3 and have been in the modding scene for a long time, the reason why i am considering to get a new car is because of some of the problems i am having with my m3 and also the fact that modded m3s are becoming less common where i am from.

I have always been the biggest fan of porches even in my early days but its price is always what stopped me from buying one, anyways i think i can find a way to buy the lowest end model and slowly work from there.

Im not very familiar with porsches so i need to ask you fellas a few questions...

I am looking for the 911 body style porsche which i believe the carerra is the cheapest out of those, is that the same body dimensions as the 911 turbo minus the vents?

also what are my modding options for this car? Im not too fond of the stock look so can u guys tell me what are some of the most popular brands/kits for this car?

thanks everyone

ps, what is 993,996 etc...on the website it only has 911's?

The 964, 993, 996 are all part of the 911 lineage, having different attributes (styling, etc) but all are 911. Check out the link above from the 40 Year Anniversary page. It's a great start.

Welcome to the site and to Porsche

oh thanks guys now i know! thanks for using the analogy to bmw's lol...its like m3 but different generations model like e36 and e46

anyways, are the body style/dimensions on all 996 the same, for some reason the gt3 and turbos (minus the vents) look a bit different

The Carrera's and GT3 are "Narrow Body" and C4S, Turbo, and GT2 are "wide body", so yes they are different....
Welcome to the board...I had a 2003 SMG E46 M3 b4, great car!!

kabol,

The main difference in width is from behind the doors to the rear of the car. This means that not all body kits will fit. Rear bumpers will be different and maybe (I am not sure) the lower rocker panels.

Also consider the model year. In 2002 the 911s (996) got different headlights (like the 911 turbo) pre 2002 996 cars had boxster headlights. This means the front bumpers are different.

Also I think the rear lights and trunk lid are different on the wide body cars, meaning the trunk lid needs to be taken in to consideration (for spoilers etc)
