996 Turbo Transmission
Nice......
I'm positive, bought them myself. Sorry don't have part numbers and it took ALOT of work to get every proper part needed doing it on my own and learning simultaneously.
And its GT2RS....... the 3.15 first gear is a game changer in my opinion. So much more enjoyable street driving.

I rebuilt my gearbox numerous times.. Its really hard to get them to hold together if you push your card hard especially on slicks and with WHP north of 600..
I would say a total rebuild with gears, axels, bearing and so on is easy 13k$
Then if you would like to push your 996TT hard longer times then only a Highway pull and boulevard racing like ttrack driving then you need cooling.. And thats pretty tricky to build on the 4WD, done with OEM parts its reallyexpensive...
My personal build is mainshaft, 1-3 and all steel synchros 3+ And all bearings, new synchros 1-2. Where are u getting your parts from? I personally get them from the most inexpensive place in the US. Also sometimes people are willing to negotiate on pricing. It's all about the amount of time and effort you put into it. Most guys drop their gear box off and say "fix it" and get up charged on everything. Sorry that you paid more then I did but that happens all the time. Fyi I got NOTHING for free unlike others I can say on this forum.
You're including axles in a transmission build? I'm confused.
Personally I do highway pulls and I have everything built on my car and it's a 3.9L. I just don't post about it as often as others.
I noticed you are in Sweden is there maybe an added cost there?

To be honest your numbers don´t really add up to the average transmission rebuild.. I mean for all we know someone could of given you the parts for free. Thats not relevant for the average Porsche owner trying to rebuild his gearbox...

were are you getting your parts from? i checked pelican, auto atlanta and sonnen to get a comparison. since none of these parts are aftermarket like say an exhaust or injectors they all come from porsche initially. for the 1-2 mainshaft 3rd gear and 4 point bearing plus the 3 nuts the cost was 2775$ this didn't include any synchros or any other parts. that leaves 1725$ for labor. is that what your labor cost was? i have a call in to radar motorsports for a quote but haven't heard back. and I'm in the us so theres no added cost and i don't drop mine off and say build it to anyone.
so your answer is that you won't answer either of my questions. what parts source did you use and what was your labor cost. as i have said in the past I'm searching info.
I don't have as much ill will towards you as I do them, but their time will come also.

I will never forget how I was treated, stalked, harassed by your "team". People notifying others and bringing the group in to attack me for no reason. Posting my public work and private information and spamming it onto the forum.

ill will won't help you on here or in life. do what you want. i have read every single trans thread on 4 different forums and theres not a single person that even remotely comes close to the price your saying. my shop in atlanta was willing to sell me all the trans parts at cost. still can't come close to what your posting. ill call rader again but i already know what the cost will be and its certainly more than 4500$. not once have i attacked your build. its yours to do with what you want.
You guys are in dreamland if you think you are building a trans for a 996 from a reputable builder that will hold up to 700+lb ft torque and 1000hp in a street car that sees occasional racing for 4500.Parts in my trans were 10k + and if IRC 3k of it was a billet main and first gear. Also for high hp builds straight cut gears are recommended along with steel syncros. The Porsche 997 gt2 gear sets are only marginally stronger than stock
i don't have a "team". garth does my tuning, buckhead imports helped me with my build and 60% of the work i did myself. tim ,mark ,sambott and others have helped me in understanding , finding and purchasing parts. theres maybe 15 others that also help on here every day. if it wasn't for jlflip i couldn't find half the part # i need.

I am talking my personal experience and costs bellow
If you know what you are doing the parts shouldnt get you over 3500-4000 usd for gearbox only (internals) not axles, cables, shifters, LSD, etc..
Labor might be like 1500usd or so, maybe even less if going to do more at once and split the cost
Till now my 997gt2 gears are holding up very strong 700+ lbft and almost 1000hp... including all types of racing...
I did the gbox twice as first time I didnt choose the right mechanic and had 2nd gear pop-out... everything was mint inside but just some minor wear on the 2nd gear pinion, I had to buy again 1st,2nd and mainshaft as I wanted to be sure that these gear will hold even 1200+ hp that were planned at some point and was on a hurry and unable to find out the PN for 2nd gear only, since than car is running like a champ..
3rd gear from 997gt2 is much stronger imo than 996tt , but everybody with his opinion..
I did 1,2,3 + mainshaft 997gt2rs + gt2 forged retaining plate (this is optional) and all bearings and seals replaced, last time I saw also some wear on 4th gear and upgraded also 4th
The above costs dont include trans fluids and other stuff that might get very expensive if you buy them from the Porsche dealer, try to find OEM form other stores; the all other small things might be 500-1000 all together.
I didnt do custom gears (usually like 1000$ each gear) or steel syncros (a bit less than 1000$ each maybe) or shift sleeves etc..
I would say all together can be done starting 5000-5500$ give or take a bit if you pay enough attention and time to pick correct parts and labor, but can get to 10-15K quickly if going to upgrade almost everything inside
